Best. Robot. Story. EVER!

Yay, i'm back from Montréal, and I just went to see Wall-e. If you haven't yet, go. Just go. It's too cute and wonderful and beautiful for words. The animation is amazing and the story is pixarlicious. You even get a short video at the intro about a magician and his magic hat. Hilarious.
Montréal was pretty fun. I didn't find a job (noooooo!) so I currently remain unemployed, but I visited a few museums/galeries and saw some interesting exhibits. I also got to see a few friends, apply to some jobs, draw a lot and see Link of course. I also discovered Midori, a melon flavored drink mix that is delicious (and green, as the name would suggest).
The unemployed thing still sucks, but I'm doing illustrations for books and exhibits right now, so i'm not really THAt unemployed. I'm still really busy and I love it. Honestly, drawing will always remain like crack to me. *laughs*
I also started fiding new drawing techniques for my comic art. I'm starting to use watercolors for comic work and i'm finally defining more clearly the style that was emerging thru my "serious" work. I saw my friend Tama yesterday and a big wind of Nostalgia hit us and we think it's high time we really got some drawing done. I think without homework, I will really have the time to turn my comic stuff into more then a hobby. A friend passed on the address of a comic artist agency. I think I might sign up.
I also want to sign up at a place called "Art Temp" which is, you've guessed, a temp agency for art-related work. I keep getting turned down by employers because I don't have experience. Seriously, They keep telling me "You're great, but you don't have enough experience." So, i'll get aboard Art Temp, do a bunch of silly contracts and that way, i'll gain various experiences. It's not really stable job material, but I think for the first year, it's pretty ok for me to not have stability but rather concentrate on diversity.
As a final note, Slayers Revolution starts tomorrow. I'm deliriously happy about that. I also finally got to buy almost all the sailor moons I was missing (I only have book 17 and 18 missing!) for a decent price. I also got to see Tin Man. It was crap. I could not even go thru episode one. It had terrible CGI, crummy acting, storytelling Battlestar Galactica style and a witch with epaulettes that looked like advertizement for silos. Definitly not my favorite Wizard of Oz adaptation. Good thing I have tickets for Wicket.
Honestly. The Tin Man witch and Sailor Galaxia must buy their clothing at the same outlet.

So i'm back, inspired, happy and lively. Link really recharges my batteries!

I wish you luck with the art temp jobs. They always want you to have more experience I swear! How can we ever get experience if people don't hire us? Take care.

Date: 2008-07-02 12:08 am (UTC)And Wall-E is ADORABLE!! I LOVED it. It even made me wanna watch Hello Dolly! afterwards.
Is there a specific job you want to do? I think you'd be good for illustrative work because of your art style.

Date: 2008-07-02 01:20 am (UTC)Doing the odd art jobs does sound like the best way to gain experience. Plus, you might be exposed to all sorts of jobs, so maybe you'll find what you really love...and what you really hate. ^_-
Much luck!
