Lately i've been buying "box set" versions of my old youth favorites. They are series I read over and over at my local librairy. I just started buying "Sambre" a romantic and tragic tale of two lovers that had a lot more sex then I recalled. The book still rocks and the drawings are positivly fantastic. I'm just suprised about how I don't remeber any of this sex. I checked it out on the web; apparently, two versions of some panels exist. "Sambre" was published in "Spirou" (a magazine with weekly comics, kinda like Shonen Jump, but in color and better) that was for a younger audience. Some of the panels got censored during their passage in Spirou. The sex was not shown and a little hinted at (mainly because the female character gets pregnant). It makes a lot more sense now.

I really love all of the old series by this "Yslaire" guy. He's the writter and illustrator of "Sambre" and of another of my childhood favorites "Bidouille & Violet" Bidouille and Violet is another romantic tale. It's called "happy-sad chronicles of a first love" and it's the cutest thing you'll ever read. It's poetic, fairy tale like state allows it to avoid sappy stereotypish situations. Very refreshing series.

I hear a lot of critique about this Yslaire dude lately. Apparently, he uses photoshop a lot in his latest series and people find he selled out. I never took a look at his most recent series, but I feel (after re-reading my old favorites) that I should, especially since his last publication got a million litterature prizes...

Happily, I also learned that the "Spirou" magazine was (with agreement from Yslaire) going to publish a 24 page special story about Bidouille and Violet. The series ended 30 years ago. The 24 page special shows the characters 30 years later. It's a Spirou valentines day special. I'm totally buying it. Yes, i'm a big sap, too bad. Me want closure. The story was pretty open ended. Closure please, closure!!!!

They even gave us a sneak peek, those meanies!!!



Aside from that, school is still evil and all marketing experts deserve to be shot.
I'll talk about school work another day. I'm tired of it right now.

I hate how my room is a mess. I mostly use it for storage because i'm always at school. God bless my studio & labtop. 

I really, really need to make a file with all my comic ideas, sketches and information. I've got so many story ideas all over the place. Must. Organize. Any suggestions?

I also went to montréal last weekend. It was really needed. I was about to kill people and then die of lack of sleep... And I finally got my jaw fixed today. It hurts. I'm suppose to go back in 2 weeks to make sure no other surgery is needed. I will now beep in airports.

I find I get alot of ideas too, so I write them all down in a notebook, especially story ideas, but I also write down drawing ideas or interesting information that I may find useful later on. In fact, I keep my note book next to my bed, that way if I get a good ideas in the middle of the night, I don't have to get up to write it down.

Having a physical file would be good, but you can also make a digital one. Scan the sketches, type out the ideas, then stick them all in a folder somewhere on your computer. (Did you ever find the folder I snuck onto Artemis that had a lot of your artwork? Something like that.)

Be kind to the jaw, and hopefully it'll heal faster. Are you going to test out how well it works (after its healed) by eating an apple? ^_-
