So yeah. I got my idea for work this year: i'm still working the fairy tale genre, basing myself mainly on characters fitting the profile of "lost girls" such as Alice and Dorothy, lost in another world, but also Snow White and Red riding hood, lost in the woods, ect. I plan on making a parallel with actual feelings of women feeling lost in our day and age.

I think this subject suits me better then my first idea (which was, as some of you know, based on the illustration of the imaginary world. I'm glad I shifted from world to characters.) I presented my idea to the class today and completly ruined the presentation with bad english and loss of ideas as I was saying them. I redid the presentation directly to the teacher after class. I did that one in french. I don't mind doing my presentations in english... I'm allowed to do them in french because of the classe's bilingual status. However, more than half the class has no clue what you just said. Considering the other student's feedback is often precious and ensigthful, it's good to speak english. Also, the ones who don't understand you have a tendency to stop paying attention and speaking among themselves, which sucks and actually happened during the 2 minutes I spoke french. Rarw.

Anywho, I found this new idea closer to my personal life since i'm currently in a state described as "The limbo waiting room" I'm finishing this year, trying to figure out what to do with my life at the same time as managing two jobs, one for which i'm not paid (but on which I have a lot more fun. Mwahahaha). So yeah. I'm not in limbo yet, but i'm in the waiting room to get there. So I feel a bit lost in the woods myself.

The limbo waiting room must be SO white. Like pristine white.

In the end, my prof suggested awesome reads and a movie. I'm adding the readings to my pile of stuff to do. Because of my schedule, monday, tuesday and wednesday are pretty much days where I can't do any homework, so it all piles up for the weekend. I have maybe a total of 200 pages to read over the course of 3 days. Wish me luck. I already watched the movie. I figured it was a good excuse to do homework while vegging like a potato bag in front of the tv. The movie was "Water" by Deepa Metha. If you haven't seen it, rent it now. You can find it at blockbuster. Go.

As a finale note, I apologize to the people who have to stand me all day (mainly other Isabelle, Tanya, Stephan and Fauve) for being extra-bitchy and whiny this week. I don't know why, but i've spent the week biting people's faces off and being emo to a point where I could have made deviant art ashamed (and that website as emo crap coming out it's wazoo.) So, i'm sorry guys. I promise to get more sleep starting now and to stop being a dominatrix of conversation.

Ah, other final note: Meme! Take it if you wannit ^_^

Man, I'd loan you my niece if I could! So there's a shortage of little girls over there? o_O;

Classmates will find any reason not to pay attention. That's one nice thing about being at a church school is that people are (usually) going to be more polite by default. In my public speaking class we had a few returned missionaries that just had to speak to us in the language where they served (usually somewhere Spanish-speaking), and no one interrupted. Heck, I think it's cool to listen to other languages. Even though I hardly understand French at all (I admit it!), it still sounds a lot prettier than some languages... *loves German anyway, darn it*

As for being lost, yep, being lost is fun. I'm definitely lost over here in school for the most part. You guys are definitely my lifeline.

(And for the record, you're the second Isabelle (first if you count Isabel not having the same spelling in her name) I've ever known. It really is a pretty name, but I just don't encounter it down here in the States.)

To make you feel better, I only know one other Isabelle, and she lives in Wisconsin and is Italian.

I remember having to give presentations in high school. @_@ I was Class Rep for my homeroom (only because no one else would do it) and I had to give annoucements to the class once a month about current events happening in the school, but no one would bother to listen or be quiet. It was very annoying.

Your fairytale characters idea sounds cool, which reminds me, the other day, I thought of another fairytale girl traveler. The girl from East of the Sun, West of the Moon I wasn't sure if you want to know that or not.

You're the first Isabelle I've ever met. It's weird how one name can be so common in one place, but rare in another, but then again, I have moved around quite a bit. ^_^;

I'll have to do that name Meme later.

I hadn't noticed any bitchiness, only a ton of talking in the sense of not fitting a word in edgewise, but I think that's a good thing, neh?

As I said in class, it really frustrates me when ppl stop paying attention and fiddling with things as soon as the language changes. For those of us who are trying our darndest to follow the convo, but are very weak in the language, the added noise makes it that much more difficult.

I might be switching to your monday class! (I have to talk to my boss, but I've already [ambarrassingly] cried three times today because they're holding grad comittee elections on Monday and I can't be there)

*laughs* If I talk to much, you can tell me to shut up. I often start to babble when i'm nervous or stressed. Seriously, I won't take it badly. Some of my best friends do it "Oh Isa, you're talking to much again."

It amazes me when people don't pay attention, since a lot of them are trying to learn french, you'de figure they would hush up and use it as a great oppornity to practice!

I find it weird that the friday class only as 7 or so people in it. And honestly, talk to your boss. 5 shifts a week is way too much. Not to mention this is your final year. What's the point of being a graduate if you can't have fun being on commitees or participating to fundraisers and preparing the expo? Not to mention your art, you need to focus on your art! It was the first time I saw your stuff when you presented it in class today (or at least, the first time I knew it was yours, for I recall randomly seeing the dryad) Your casts are so beautiful, it would be a shame to not be able to push it further.

I know you said you would feel bad about doing less after saying you'd do full time, but I don't think taking a day off or switching it will be a terrible thing to do. Your boss is human and has a shop on campus. I think he knows all about student life drama *laughs*

And also, if you get more time off on monday, maybe you me and anneka can meet up and do art stuff together!

(and really, tell me to stop talking XD But i'll most likely be less moody next time you see me. I don't know what's going on this darn week. Perhaps it's that pms thing I hear so much about! *laughs*)

haha lolz about the name, i conquer. and for the presentation, yes your ideas were a little bit all over the place, but i agree that it was a littlebit clearer when you said it in french... but then again, not being language and it being a presentation in front of the class, it's normal (heck, i'll prolly do that to :P) and i like your lost girl theme for your projects... aaaand the bitchyness caught on everyone, now that school began and everyone realises you have to do work :P

I don't think we have a shortage. I just don't know any. I have a cousin and stuff, but my family lives up north. Maybe I can try to get Link's cousins to do it...

Isabelle seems really uncommon in english countries. But in french/spanish it's rampant!

Oh, sur la lune fairy tales! I love that web site! (I like the name too: it's "on the moon" in french). Thanks for the tip. I actually have to create for myself a list of fairy tale characters that count in the "lost" categorie.

However, I really have to split the different between questing characters and lost ones... Kinda like...The narnia characters are lost since the quest kicks in afterwards. Gerta (from the snow queen) is not so lost because she embarks on the quest herself. But Gerta can still be seen as a lost character since she is going on a quest because she lost the person that gave her life meaning...

This list is gonna be complicated.

I'll post it when i'm done XD

Yeah, I think everyone got a good wind of bitchyness once the whole "I'm back with friends yay" segment of the return weared off... Well, I still apologize XD

I also wanted to ask you what your theme was... ^^
