Well, they used to be independant mutants, since they got transformed as children by a test drug. But they got involved in the X-men world at some point with some crossovers. In general, they are not x-men though. They kinda are the B listed heroes of marvel: cool and interesting, but never really caught a public. I have some issues where they cross over with some mutants who I think are X-men and those issues really suck... And I agree, movie rogue was bad. She went from inner turmoil battle to frustrated teenage babe who can't touch people but wear these slotty clothes that reveal her boobs, stomach and part of her arms...Helloooo people, when a person is afraid of touching, no matter how angst they get, they don't wear that, or go around poking wolverine in their sleep! Tsk! And what's with the "romance" with wolverine now? Gaah.
