Generally, Expozine went well. Kinda felt like I had missed the dress code memo, because there was a sea of hipsters. Now that hipsters are kinda mainstream, does that kinda make the message of the style moot? Sorta like having an idealist and government supporting punk? Anyways, I digress.
I had some Namesake copies, some original art, some Jabberwocky and Rose books and my tiny fairy tale postcards. I sold a bit of everything, but I didn't do that well. At least I got to give out plenty of cards, my box of 200 was empty by the end. I met a couple of folks with interesting art and webcomics that sat around me, such as Boum, Elise, Emiwan and Geneviève. Check out their awesome stuff!
Oh, I kinda forgot to mention this, but a couple of weeks ago, I saw "Hugo" at the Montréal premiere. This qualifies as one of the movies I know with the WORSE MARKETING EVER. The movie is actually awesome. It's based on a kid's novel, and it's about a young orphan clockmaker who hides in the central train station of Paris, stealing food and gears from the shops around the station to eat and finish fixing an automaton that him and his father found. He manages to fix the automaton, and is caught stealing, which allows him to meet the owner of the toy shop where he stole gears who is linked to the creation of the automaton. The whole story ties in with black and white traditional cinema, mainly the works of Melies. The whole movie looks gorgeous, re-creates old movies and even has some pretty amazing fully-silent sequences (including the 10 minute intro), which I love. It kinda reminds me of Amelie a lot. It's awesome.

The ads kinda make it look like it's the story of two kids and full of slapstick... Grrr.
...so yeah.
