Speaking of creepy things, the museum at my university has a show that just opened called "Cute and Creepy," and I believe the professor curating it said that she's part of the surrealist movement that everyone in the exhibit is part of. Ah, I found an article. Some of the stuff is definitely creepy (and distressing, in my opinion).
