Announcement ends.
Well, after about three weeks of hard work, the project that I've been meaning to do for a LONG time, but never got around to doing it till now, is finally done.
Now I can just show my art to anybody that has acces to the web.
Next step, getting my business card printed.
Here's an interesting story that happened to me a few days ago:
I was able to get into contact with this guy who's a 3d animator here in Montreal. He checked out my demo with three of his friends that are all 3d lead animation, and 3d animator recruitors. He gave me a call last Friday to tell me what he and his friends thought of my demo and the guy told me something that I've been waiting to hear for the last ten months. I SUCK.
Ok, he wasn't as un-diplomatic as that. He didn't use those words, but that's basicly what he said.
Let me explain why I've been waiting to hear this.
For the last year, everybody that's watched my demo (pretty much only fellow students, friends and family). They've all told me that my demo was great, that I'll get a job for sure, that I'm going to go far in life and such. BUT!!!!! After ten months of looking for a job in 3D I still haven't found any work in 3D, even thought I put a LOT of effort into trying to find a job. Something wasn't right. Either I really wasn't lucky or I wasn't as good as I might've once thought.
Even the 3D recruiters I was able to get an interview with where talking to me about other problems in my demo, without ever telling me that my material was a problem on itself. Result, I fixed the smaller problems I was told about in my demo without putting much focus on trying to Improve my talents too much since they never came up as a problem. And I get more and more pissed off cuz I fix what I was told to fix, but I'm still not getting any more luck finding a job.
Finally, I get told that my material is quite simply not good enough to land me a job unless the company is pretty damn desperate and everything explains itself. Apparently the competition is much fiercer than what I thought and was told.
So now, what I have to do is spend the next 2 to 3 month to do massive amounts of practice in 3D animation. With any luck, I'll be able to get the government to support me thru either well-fare or possibly an art project fund. That way I won't have to work and thus split my focus between two things.
If for some reason, I can't get support and have to find a part time job. Then I figure It'll take about 6 to 7 month to get the amount of practice I'll need to get back in the 3D groove. I figure that It'll need about 5 or so hundred hours of practice.
I really hope that it doesn't go to the alternative since I was also told that every month that pass since you get out of school is one more handicap towards getting a job. Apparently, past 2 years that you stay without a job in 3D after school makes it neigh impossible to land the job.
Since I've already been out of school for over a year now. I've got my work cut out for me.
So now I'm going to eat, sleep and shit 3D animation till I land my job. I've done it once, I can do it again.
Its the beauty of being able to control your obsessions.
Alright, so that's pretty much all I've got to tell you guys and gals.
Wish me luck.
