Yeah, note I just said, "A lot of people," as I still saw most all of my local friends. It's actually good to continue doing normal things, as it helps keep a sense of...normalcy. Plus, it's nice to be able to express and experience other emotions aside from the anger/depression. (And, most of my outlet was gaming with local friends, so I got to "be" other people for a while, which also helped. Even if I was angry and feeling trapped, for a few hours I'd get to be a character who might be experiencing the same emotions, but with a more direct way to escape them.)
Do what you need to do, just don't be afraid to experience your more negative emotions. The sooner they're dealt with, the sooner they'll leave.
Heck, go write something, draw something, something that lets you express your frustrations. Something for your eyes only. Afterward you can do what you will with it, but I bet it'll help you to release the anger and depression faster.
