This week is a baaa-a-ad drawing week. What are those? Those are weeks where everything I draw is pretty much crap. I have no skills nor inspiration for a few days. Those usually happen after a very stressful period and tend to also happen during that "time of the month". For some reason, what's happening in my pants is affecting my art, or something. (So... like Lord Byron, except painful and gross?)

But it's not too bad. I find myself rather kept busy by all the other random stuff I've been pushing back for weeks due to Jabberwocky.

I think I need to go to the dentist. I have three fillings that needed to be fixed/created. And one of them seems faulty or something because the tooth still hurts, even worse then before. How annoying.

Got my copy of "Tangled" in the mail today, along with a gorgeous "Full Metal Alchemist" boxset. Heck yeah. Stuff to watch!

I went to St-Denis street today and walked in a rather large bookstore where I spent an hour and a half just staring at comics and artbooks and novels. It's been a while since I did that. I never really do it. I usually walk in, grab a book and walk out. Today was strangely good for that. it made me feel happy and calm. Like I needed it.

I want to make comics about werewolves.... Mayeb my next one! :D

Is that an Utena I see? I didn't know you were a fan!

Browsing around a nice bookstore is so much fun! I'm glad you found the spare time to do it.

Actually... It's not Utena, but rather a very old anime character (from the 70's) that inspired Utena :D i,m gonna make a post about her soon...

Awww, the Inu Yasha doodle in the middle is so cute.

Interesting comparison to Byron there...

I still gotta wait for my copy of 'Tangled.' Until the weekend at least. Boo.

And a comic about werewolves would be awesome!!

I live to use Byron as a reference in weird things.

Quebec as a TON of werewolf legends. It's part of my culture. I'm amazed I never really though of using those before.

Never has there been a better time to use this icon, I think.

Awesome! Then you have a lot to draw from. Plus, werewolves are popular!

Too bad you can't draw now, you could use the belly to support your drawing tablet.

I almost always have a creative drain during the W.o.E., be it writing, drawing, or what have you. It comes knocking, my skills flee in terror. Except this last time, where I was almost manic in how much creative energy I oozed the whole time. It was kind of freaky...

Anyway, it happens. It'll pass.

And where were you for the past _____ amount of years I've been into werewolves? I'm seriously contemplating making a plushie of them, once I get some other critters finalized. And, if I can find really cute noses.

Date: 2011-03-31 03:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
It will pass. I think in my case, the skill fleeing is probably partially helped by the fact that i'm rather sickly during that time. Boo. But at least i'm not alone!

Hahahaha! Mostly, i'm getting back into werewolves because Québec as a ton of werewolf stories, fairy tales and wive's tales. Not sure why, but it's kinda cool when you think about it.

At least you can blame it on feeling sickly. I can feel just fine, but have absolutely no access to creativity. It's like there's an actual block preventing it from happening, and it's weird... Hormones are a dangerous thing, indeed!

I say it's the French connection. Werewolves seem more prevalent in European lore, probably because Europeans in general were terrified of wolves. Out here, the natives lived in harmony with the natural world, so no need to demonize it. Instead, we have legends of sasquatch and the like. Either way, it's always interesting how different regions have different myths and folklore.

From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
Yep. Folklore is also very influenced by religion, quebec being catholic... Our main villain was always the devil! (no, really. And he was always a very suave smooth-talker).

I can understand why Europeans don't like wolves. Ever heard of the baddest wolf of them all? Here it is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_of_G%C3%A9vaudan

I watched a few specials on t.v. about that, actually. (Some think it was a displaced hyena. That was an interesting show.) It's too bad it happened so long ago, so it's hard to know exactly what it was that caused all the trouble. Old drawings of animals always look weird, too, so that doesn't really help...

From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
The most widely accepted theory I heard was that it was a cross-breed with a rather large race of farming dogs...

Hey they have this great french movie called "Brotherhood of the wolf" about this beast. You should rent it if you can :D

Date: 2011-03-31 11:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com
Being that cross-breeds can be enormous, it could be plausible. Might also explain the lack of fear of humans that most wild animals usually have.

I remember seeing commercials for that movie. To be honest, I don't really enjoy movies like that. I'm more interested in the animal side of the story than to watch humans freak out for an hour and a half while they wonder what is going on, and how they're to deal with it. (Plus, I prefer D&D werewolves to real world accounts. I'm so boring! ;) )

Actually, like most movies, the advertisement is really wrong. It's really more about conspiracies and the animal's story is kinda sad...
