Link is sweet and supportive of my pain. And rubs my belly. And then says things that are weird. Weird, but adorable. And a little disturbing.

I decided to do as you all told me and take a giant break tonight. The artist is "sick". So watched my recently-purchased-but-not-yet-opened version of Disney's Tarzan.

Yeah baby.

I adore this Disney movie. Everything about it pleases me. I kinda like this adaptation of Tarzan. I read the original, but found it a bit cruel. And other adaptations are just... corny. This one gives us a strangely realistic edge to how Tarzan walks and acts. I love it. Also, VINE SURFING. I'm really intrigued by Tarzan's parents in the opening sequence. I want to hear what their story is. They are apparently awesome enough to escape a boat one FIRE (why is it on fire?) and build an extremly cool house in the middle of the jungle. with teamwork. No wonder Tarzan is awesome. His parents were carriers of the awesome DNA. And then he was raised by fearless and loving gorillas. Yeah.

I love how expressive Jane is. I think she's one of the Disney "girls" with the most cartoonist expressions. And the cutest giggle. I actually think the brand new Rapunzel and her are kinda alike. Maybe that's why I already love Rapunzel.

Oh, Link is always so very cute. I like this adaption of Tarzan as well. I've only seen part of this movie, but it was adorable.

Regarding your first pic - YES IT IS!!! And I will leave it at that. DX

I hope he didn't really say that- LOL. Oh well, it takes support of all kinds sometimes. =)

Tarzan was a good one, but I always think of the Kingdom Hearts level when I think of it.

'Tis a bad week for vaginas indeed. Uhg~ Where's my hot water bottle! OTL

I remember seeing Tarzan many years ago but I haven't thought about it in a long time (seems like Disney didn't merchandise it as hard as they did with some of their other films :\), but yes, the vine surfing is awesome. ;D

I'd give you my vagina, but it's not behaving either. Must survive the week! (And that's great that he is supportive. I know we ladies gross out a lot of guys when we have our monthly bleeding session, so more power to him for doing what he can to make you feel better.)

I think it's a given I prefer Disney's adaptation of Tarzan, but it's not just because it's a Disney movie. When Disney got the rights to adapt the book(s) they had to stay accurate to the book. Seriously, Edgar Rice Burroughs' living family required it. Having read the first book, I know Disney did take a few liberties, but they were liberties that made sense. Like making Sabor the tiger into Sabor the leopard. Tigers don't live in Africa. Leopards do. Also, the book is old enough that what the author knew of chimpanzees and gorillas (since the book never did specify exactly what the 'apes' were) is totally inaccurate to what we know now. I think Disney did a great job of adapting the book with current information on the animals featured in the book.

Although it is sad that Edgar Rice Burroughs was completely wrong in a grown man never raised in the ways of man being able to grasp things like human language or writing as Tarzan did in the book. It's been attempted with 'feral children', and general consensus is that if a child is not raised with such things, they'll never be able to truly grasp it later. But then Tarzan wouldn't get a happy ending, so I'll forgive both the author and Disney.

Urgh, it has been a while since I read the book, but didn't the ship get attacked by pirates? I seem to recall something about it being hijacked or something that left Tarzan's parents stranded in Africa in the first place.

..okay, and I really have too much trivia! Tarzan's vine surfing came courtesy of his key animator, Glen Keane(!) watching his son engage in such extreme sports like snowboarding. Art imitates life. ^_- (And Jane really is a great Disney leading lady. I wasn't expecting much from her, especially when I first heard her voice, but now there's no way I can see her any other way!)

Bad week?

Sounds like they're having a bad week everywhere... except for my place! :D

Haha. Its crazy though that you have lived a full 24 years of your life... And never seen Tarzan until now. How sad.

However! I do love Jane as well. I'll have to say though, its not worth it to watch the second movie. I hated it so much that I don't even remember what all it is about, other than Tarzan going back to civilization.

Lol, Link is hilarious.

I actually really kind of loved Tarzan. I know it's weird, since Jane is so whiny and irritating, but for the time period and the story it actually works, and she does become stronger as the movie progresses - she has her own version of strength as well (I would be scared shitless in the African wild, and for her it's like a day in the park wtf).

So Link isn't one of those dudes who runs screaming at the mention of "female problems"? That's cool. :)

Jane is one of my favorite Animated leading ladies, too. I love that they weren't afraid to make her look and act silly. You rarely see the Disney girls engage in slapstick like she did.

And I also wish we had gotten some back story on Tarzan's parents (Tarzan got a TV series, why didn't they do it there!?). They were pretty damned awesome by the looks of it! I suppose Disney didn't let us get to know them too well because that would only make it sadder when they get chewed up by the leopard.

Well, and the movie is based on the book, and the book didn't exactly enlighten us on the parents, either. I do think Disney did a great job of establishing what kind of parents Tarzan had though, despite their lack of dialogue. (They were loving and devoted, not to mention incredibly resourceful.) Oh, and there is that bit about Tarzan and Clayton being cousins, but that's only revealed in the book. The characters themselves never know it. Just one of those little ironies the author clued us in to.

I love Jane, she's one of my favorite female Disney characters. She has a knack for getting into over her head, but you got to admire her for exploring an unexplored jungle. I almost picked her for my favorite heroine, until I remembered Amelia. XD I also love her relationship with Tarzan. It's so touching and adorable at the same time.

Have you ever heard her song in the Tarzan broadway version? It's really cute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-NGPLMFuWs

Oh, man. I absolutely LOVE Tarzan. I was not really into the book series until Disney made their own version of the legendary ape man. When it first came out, I saw it like eight times. XD;

Then I went ahead and borrowed the original story, and you're right, it is cruel. Honestly, I thought the movie should have had a PG-rating. Even if it's Disney, there are violent scenes in the film. Like, when Tarzan's parents were killed, though we don't see it happen, his later battle with Saber, and his final battle with Clayton, followed by his death. Being hung by a vine, and only seeing his shadow, is shocking to children. D:

As for Jane, I adore her. I agree that she gets points for being brave enough to enter Africa's wildness as if they're going on a picnic, and we're talking about a girl who was raised in a proper English environment (other ladies would just complain all day if a single speck of soil stained their dresses).

I so want to go vine-surfing!

And yet, it's like the manliest Disney ever. I figured they would try to pierce the boy market with it? They have been trying to make "boyish" disney but none seems to top aladdin.

He's really supportive. And i seem more grossed out by it then he is. Link is very accepting about the human body in general.

Yeah, I agree about what you say - some animals needed to be changed. The original just strings a bunch of cool animals together. that's not too cool.

Actually, I did a bit of research on wild children for my social classes, and that thing about "wild children" not aquiring any skills may not be fully true. A few of the known cases actually showed sign of metal problems. Which may have been the cause of them not learning anything more then their savage upbriging. They also had a wolf child that would get beaten by her caretaker if she didn't act a certain way in front of visitors. That way was of course, the savage way. They did actually have this one girl that had acquired pretty decent language skills. Not enough to be fully intergrated to society, but she adapted well to family life. I don'Ét have names in front of me, but it's an interesting subject. I doubt they would reach Tarzan's level, but a normal child in a loving home seemed to fair pretty well, despite the savage upbrigning. It's the same for kids from violent homes. They don't developp as well as happy kids. The environnement can make a big difference.

But anyways. I'm no expert either.

Jane has some great faces. I love when she's blushing.

Let's all go vine surfing!

Their version of tarzan is a bit mature and "manly". It kinda reminds me of treasure planet in that aspect. Classic literature is a bit harder to adapt then fairy tales, I guess. XD

Nope, in fact, he's more at ease with it then I am.

I adored her cartoonist movements and her larger feet. Like Rapunzel's in fact!

Despite the lack of conversation, we do get a nice look at their personas. Disney really should have another leading married couple (like the Incredibles). They make dynamic married couples. I want to see more of that.

It's the weirdest thing, I remember more about the disney Tarzan cartoon than I do about the movie. The cartoon had some really good quality too. You usually don't see that in animated "spinoffs," or whatever it's called when you serialize a movie.

^^; Well, not exactly. My issue just involves a procedure that was much more painful than it needed to be - and stirrups. I'll spare you the details, but I'm very mad at my doctor right now.

I've heard of women who spend a lot of time together syncing, but over the Internet? That's a scary thought.

Boy, it's been a long time since I've played KH, but it involved some vine surfing and a chameleon at the end that was not easy to beat. It was one of my favorite levels.

Awww. Whenever my girlfriend is in that kinda pain, I always feel a bit out of place. It's like I wish I can say something to comfort her but it's not like I've ever experienced it or understand it. All the comfort I can offer is really only physical comfort in the form of snuggles.
