Feeling sick-ish again.
I don't know why I'm always so sick when I start my period. The craps are horrifyingly bad and I just feel like vomiting all day. It was going better for a while but now it's bad again. *sigh* I'm hoping this miracle medication they gave me before will work again. At least I got to sleep last night. Usually when I sleep a little the pain fades a bit. So I feel a bit better today then yesterday morning. Still wish I wasn't going in to work though.
At least the weekend is here! Yaaaaay.
This weekend, my friend Fauve is visiting. There's a con in Montreal (Otakuthon) and it's also my friend's Sofi's birthday. So I won't be drawing much this weekend. But it's okay. dqbunny is still tweaking out the dialogue for the first chapter of Namesake, so I can take a drawing break. I managed to finish drawing the prologue! Yaaaay! :D IT'S ADVANCING YOU GUYYYYYS!
I'll leave you guys with these following fairy tale pictures. They aren't drawn by me. They are from a really old fairy tale book my mom found at work (she's the library technician at the Eduction Ressource Center of the Ottawa University). They have really amazing fairy tale books! And most of these are going to go into storage pretty soon. So sad...

This Beauty had EVIL SISTERS! It's the original version of the tale, and she totally did. Check out these b*tches.

*Gasp* She's reading! Oh noes!

OH NO TWO WOLVES! (There's actually more on the second page where the text is).

Beast, I love your castle.

Who needs a pocket version of the magic mirror?

I didn't get many scans of the beast. Here, beast dying.

And then he upgrades to...Swan-man?

Date: 2010-08-13 12:50 pm (UTC)That Beauty and the Beast book is absolutely gorgeous! I'd buy it if I saw it in a store (too bad that thing is probably way out of print). Thanks so much for scanning it!

Date: 2010-08-13 01:27 pm (UTC)And wow that's a pretty book. I like beasts castle both inside and out. I want to live in menacing raven fortress with the awesome interior! Though how does beast end up dying in the book?

Date: 2010-08-13 01:48 pm (UTC)In the original fairy tale, the beast dies of a broken heart. But she tells him she loves him, so his death turns him back into a prince. It's a little weird XD

Date: 2010-08-13 01:49 pm (UTC)I scanned high-rez versions. Considering the thing is out of print/about to go in storage, I think it would be okay to print large versions for ourselves.

Date: 2010-08-13 02:14 pm (UTC)Oh okay, I remember another fairytale where a retainer is heart broken by the loss of his master. So to keep himself alive he had iron bands put around his heart. At the end of the story the master is returned and they hear the jingling of the iron bands rattle on the ground as they ride away. It's kind of neat but as a kid I couldn't suspend disbelief for it. (I wondered how he got the iron in him in the first place.)
Also I think we all should think long and hard about investing in Raven Fortress... You know it would be killer!

Date: 2010-08-13 02:45 pm (UTC)Omg, beautiful <3 I know this sounds ridiculous but I love the way Beauty's hair is drawn. It's like silk!
Have you ever come across the illustrators John Bauer and Kay Nielsen? They're my absolute favorites. I wish there was an illustration community on LJ!! Is there? Bleh :| I'm pretty sure there was a children's book one but someone said it was abandoned.

Kinda wish I had the weekend off, but I guess working 3 and 4 days in a row isn't as bad as 5.
