Working on webcomics

So yeah.
I've been a bit silent and anti-social lately. Mostly, because i've been pretty busy with drawing. And even better, I wanted to be. It's been a while since I fully indulged in a period of time where I just spend some time behind my desk. I apologize to friends near and far that I may have completely ignored.
Mostly, the plan this week was to finish the entire "Namesake" prologue (9 pages). So far, so good. I'll definitely reach my goal. I want to have at least 15 pages up before the webcomic starts (so reading the archives isn't dreadfully boring and short, you know? Make people want to read more!) and I would like to be at least 3 weeks in advance, page wise (considering we want to update 3 times per week, that means 9 pages. so I need to have 24-25 pages ready on the webcomic launch. I can do it. I just need to spend a few days fully drawing.
I want to start preparing and sketching pages for my printed comic "Potions" as well.
Long story short, projects are advancing well, i'm quite happy with it, it kills my social life and i'm sorry about that.... *hugs everyone*
Little bonus preview? Here's the cover for the prologue (Every chapter gets a cover) :

And even better?
angelchan_2004 is the proud creator of the first ever Namesake fanart, featuring Warrick the wicked warlock of the west and the leading lady, Emma. Warrick, you don't even fully exist yet and you already have people loving you. What are you trying to do man?
I love this drawing so much! :D

Oh, did anyone else watch episode one of FUTURAMA? I liked it, though it seemed really random. I'm happy they didn't reset Fry and Leela's relationship to friend mode, like they usually do in un-canceled tv shows to keep the sexual tension going. But from what we can see from the episode "Rebirth", their love is going to be weird, sappy and random as hell. If a couple could ever destroy the universe accidentally, it would be them. As long as Zap Brannigan doesn't do it first.
Also, Bender! Amy and Kif! ZAP! EEEEE!! ....Hermes, mon, what's wrong with your voice? And where did your hot wife go?

Date: 2010-06-25 04:16 pm (UTC)Drawing Lewis is hard and I don't know why. At least other characters flow more naturally.
Woo! More fanart!

Date: 2010-06-25 03:42 pm (UTC)Re: Futurama...This new episode was underwhelming. Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for it because I didn't like the direct-to-DVD movies that came out a few years ago.
However, I was pleasantly surprised that they FINALLY stopped the "will they, won't they" bullcrap with Fry and Leela's relationship. I'm going to keep watching just to see how that plays out.

Date: 2010-06-25 04:18 pm (UTC)Despite how odd the movies were (I didn't like "Bender's game" at all). I still liked how the final movie ended (characters staring into a worm hole, shouting "LET'S DO IT! GO GO GO!") It renewed the whole Nakama and adventure aspect. I though it was a good ending. The "Rebirth" opening retcon kinda busted the inspirational aspect of it though.

Date: 2010-06-25 05:10 pm (UTC)do nothing for 10 hourswork on that revamp of chapter 1 that you suggested to me. Will also split out the Fanworks page into Fanart and our policy so we can put our first fanart up! *is still so very happy about this*Oh!! And the name of the font on the banner is a slightly modified version of Penshurst.

Date: 2010-06-25 06:10 pm (UTC)Yeah, I seem to recall her being on the ship at the end of the last movie, but I don't think she was among the characters restored by the stem cells. I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder! {g}
I love the Alice drawing, by the way. And is Emma wearing a Charlie Brown shirt?

Date: 2010-06-25 06:31 pm (UTC)Be we don't see her coming OUT of the tank. Unless she was in the dogpile when they said "And the rest!"
Emma is wearing a shirt with a charlie brown design. There's going to be a lot of funky hoodies in this series xD

Date: 2010-06-26 03:45 am (UTC)And I saw Futurama last night! And there was some randomness, but I always thought there was a bit of randomness in every episode pretty much.
Yeah, I really need to be more eloquent when I post comments... -_-

C'est bien ca :D
Tu est tres lucky la!
Alors, pourquoi votre couverture pour namesake est comme l'image de Alice in Wonderland de John Tenniel? C'est bien ca, mais je tres curieux

Date: 2010-06-26 05:14 pm (UTC)The prologue is about Alice Lidell and Lewis Carrol, and the goal was to quote a bunch of Tenniel illustrations with this drawing. So you'll notice that it's a mix of the Jabberwocky illustration, the Alice as the white queen illustration, the first illustration where she is sitting in a chair with her kittens and the fireplace with the mirror should look exactly like it does in the drawing where she goes thru the looking glass. Trying to re-draw the poses and elements was difficult (I only have a tiny book with tiny versions of the illustrations). I'm SO happy you noticed it quoted Tenniel's work!!!! THIS MEANS IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE TENNIEL'S! This makes me so happy you have no idea. I felt like I failed at doing linework similar to his.

Date: 2010-06-27 06:40 am (UTC)I'm glad to hear you are motivated and working towards your goals hun. I understand it's hectic and hard to have a social life with all such things are going on around you, but once you get your projects up and deadlines sated, hopefully you'll have a bit of you time ;)
