So, a long comic basically based on the fact that today started out pretty crappy and ended pretty crappy. It wasn't even that things were bad. It's just that every single operation (including cooking) was 200% harder for no reason (I yelled in triumph over making a half-decent soup - from scratch). I'm looking forward to tomorrow being cooler, since it's another day (therefore another toast drop?) and I get to go out for supper with my friend Sofi and two of her good friends who happen to also be comic artists. Fun!

I started making my xmas gift lift yesterday. It's a long list, not as long as las tyear. But still long. A lot of it is gifts I get to make rather then buy though. So little shopping for the Isa and lots of time spend at the drawing table.

I got a bedframe yesterday. Finally, I sleep on a matress far from the floor. It's a really classy wood queen bed frame. I've always slept in a tiny one-person bed with a humble metal frame. I feel like a princess now!!!

I finally got some paychecks in. whew. I was needing money. And now I want to spend it on anime series. I'm still on that huge ''buying new and old anime series'' kick I told you guys about. I think my next buys will be ''Spice and Wolf'' season 1, ''Rome x Juliet'' season 2 and ''Trigun''. I'm also potentially looking and the ''The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya''. Lots of people tell me I would adore this series. I wonder. I wonder.

On the comic front, I purchased on Ebay (with the encouragements of Link, otherwise, I would have chickened out... it was expensive...) the full series of the Cybersix comics. A few of you might know the animated series. It's a really good animated series based on very gorgeous spanish comics. They got translated to french in 1994 in a set of 12 books. I'm guessing they never got translated in english because... The content is adult. VERY adult. But the stories and the art are so good, you're willing to look over the sea of boobies just to read it. I can't wait to get the books!!! (you can click here for a english scanlated sample page)

Okay. Time for bed.

We've all had days like that. What I really hate are the "bad art days" where any and all artistic skill suddenly disappears for no apparent reason and you just have to wait for it to come back. :(

I never knew that Cybersix was based off a comic. I'm extremely surprised that a "VERY adult" foreign comic got adapted for an American Saturday morning cartoon run! I remember watching that show when I was young and I LOVED the creative, edgy twist of the female superhero living her civilian life as a man.
Gosh, I still can't believe that a 1990's kids' show was able to pull off the weird love triangle involving Cybersix, her male secret-identity, and her male co-worker/love interest. O_o

Oh, yeah, I was pretty surprized when I found the comics for the first time too! I actually found them at my public library when I was 16, so I rented them. My mom shook her head a little when she saw the contents. XD The story is essentially the same, but the comic takes it to deeper, more twisted levels (For example, Cybersix is more of a vampire, she sucks the blood of other artificial creatures like her for her sustenance - rather then have it in convenient vottles when she destroys a baddy.) I,m also very amused that one of the big problems that Cybersix and Lucas seem to have is that everybody is getting it on but THEM. Cybersix even gets 'cockblocked' by her own male persona at some point, Lucas saying that he really needs to go to help his friend. Cybersix's reaction shot is priceless.

Now I really want those comics! Too bad they're so pricey. I could get the jist of the dialogue if I bought the French books (my skill level is about Kindergarten range -_-), but I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on comics I only barely understand.

Aw, bad days like that always suck. ): Kinda like how I spent ages carefully peeling a clementine the other day only to discover that it was going bad. If only there was some way to, say, polarize various branches of that continuum...then you could use a magnet to always go the best way! (Most coveted superpower ever?)

Splurging on all the good anime definitely requires lots of money. I might hold off on Spice and Wolf because I already ordered Baccano. Haruhi is really fun, but also very expensive, so it would probably best if you watched it first to decide whether it's worth buying.

Evil clementine!

And yeah, that would be a cool superpower. Come to think of it, the guy from Back to the Future really got a good deal doing exactly that.

You fell victim to Murphy's Law! Studies have actually been done on toast and why it always seems to land buttered/jam side down. The conclusion is pretty understandable though, since the buttered/jam side is heavier it of course flips to land on the floor. Still doesn't make me feel better when I drop my toast though!

I loved the reference to Back to the Future, and Caesar brought back memories of my Shakespeare class: "Then fall, Caesar!" I remember the reference about the woman's heel breaking, but I cannot remember what it is from. The madness! Oh well.

(Have fun choosing anime, but don't forget there's a girl down here in Idaho scraping pennies together because her funds are gone and she can't touch her savings as they're for rent for the next semester. I haaaaaate it...)

Idaho gil with get her money with her gift and her doujinshi, unless you prefer I send it via paypal now? XD

Oh, and the heel thing is from a Sandra Bullock movie, if that helps... *laughs* But it's a pretty classic american film thing.

I guess I'll keep you posted. I'm trying to hold out since we can sell back books in another week, which will put a decent chunk of change in my pocket. I just hate having my hands tied financially, especially at this time of year! It'll be a poor Christmas for me (but I haven't forgotten the request).

Ah! I love Sandra Bullock's movies! Hmm, time to watch While You Were Sleeping again.. :D

Toast falls butter side down because of the way it rotates and the height it falls from. x.x Double the height of the work surface you're using and you'll find it mainly falls butter side up. It's nothing to do with one side being heavier than the other since the added mass of butter/jam would be negligible compared to entire mass of the toast. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A1004725

Curving the toast might help though as mythbusters tested.

And yay for you having a job, btw!
I should go visit you sometimes next semester, when I have (almost) no class, and will have more money (because I'll be working all the time boo)
But still, happy for you! :)

That stinks, we all have bad days when it feels like we can't get anything done. I do like the toast theory though. Time theories made simple.

Trigun is a good series. I saw it years ago and I've been meaning to find it so I can show Stu. They're actually making a new movie for the series this year, so you're timing is good. ^_~

I remember Cybersix! I use to watch the show when it was airing. (Did you know the cartoon was a Canadian/Japanese production?) I did know it was based on a comic that was A LOT darker than the cartoon. I am glad to see the styles are similar.

Oh, the drawing styles are the same, it's what motivated the crew to do the show in the first place. The incredible stylization of the characters! But yeah, it's a lot darker and...sexier? Still really fun to read. You should flip thru them if you ever visit.

I like the Back To The Future reference :P And the five second rule, hehe. I also seem to remember doing some sort of mini blessing which meant eating food of the floor was ok, lol. Stupid things you used to do as a kid.

*weeps* Oh toast! So young, *sob* still at the prime of it's crispiness... why? Why? WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN THE BAGEL INSTEAD????
*tears of sorrow*

...Was that sufficient? (^_^)

Yep, the way my luck is, the toast always lands buttered side down. DDD:

Also, they did an similar experiment on Mythbusters like this. I forget the conclusion they came too... FAIL!

I second Trigun! I love the series and have the entire anime and manga in my collection!

Bed frame sounds wicked! Will we see pics? As well as pics of the new digs?

Hopefully today was a better day for you than yesterday. >>;

Yay for anime gifts!

I haven't watched any of Spice and Wolf though I have been meaning to. Or Romeo and Juliet.

As for Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, your comic reminds me of it. XD I think you might like the series, but also be aware of the second one.

I think you'll love Spice and Wolf! It's one of those anime that knows how to be original and intelligent while still playing with the classic plots old anime used to offer. Very cool.

Based on your recommendation, I just checked out the Spice and Wolf dub (thank goodness for Funimation's YouTube). So far it seems like a really neat show.
