I like to move it, move it. Or not.
Sep. 27th, 2009 09:58 pmStuff is moved to Montréal yay! It was kinda fun, in a horrible sort of way.
All week, my friend Fauve and my mom helped me pack up the appartment. Turns out, I've got a lot of books. Sixteen boxes worth in fact.
On friday, I was told we would only get the truck on Saturday evening, meaning that our schedule was pushed back a full day. None the less, we went to get the truck and packed all my stuff in it on Saturday. My whole family and my friends Fauve and Other Pascal helped out. Then we cleaned up my old appartment, because I really, really, REALLY did not want to go back.
On Saturday morning, my landlord just came in the still mine appartment, pretty much without knocking (he knocked, but then unlocked the door and came right in, without even a pause for me to open the door!) I was butt naked, straight out of the shower. Naturally, I told him to leave. He came back ten minutes later, asking for me to pay October. Never mind that October first is still next week, he's been pretty agressive and coming by almost everyday for his check (I work late so he never caught me until now). I was kinda scared when he just walked right in since I barely had time to catch a towel and hide myself. URGH. So, yeah. He's also harassing me saying I need to pay for electricity and shit for the month of October and saying I need to pay November too pretty soon. I want to destroy this man. Seriously, buddy, if you can't rent out the appartment in 3 months, maybe there's something wrong with it. Such as all the bare outlets and metal wires sticking out that electrocuted me that you never fixed? Or the water damage you never fixed? Or the cold cracks you never fixed? Yeah. Buddy. Whatever.
Hopefully, this is the last of ass landlord.
The Montreal appartment = so much nicer. And huge. We left Ottawa at 5am on sunday, got to Montreal at 8am, unloaded my stuff, went to get Link's stuff, unloaded it. It was a bit icky since it was going from drizzle to hard rain all day... But we did it. There was no elevator, so we carried everything 3 stories up. Good thing my dad, Link and my brothers were around. Next time I move, I would prefer hiring real movers, or at least having Link's brother's around. We are not Sporty in my family, Except my father, but he's also...older. So it was a little scary to see him put in so much effort. We ended up going home pretty late and my dad had to stop twice because of awful muscle cramps. Poor guy : (
Long story short, the stuff is in montréal now. I'm back in Ottawa since my job contract only ends on the 1st of October. I,m going to couch surf at my paren't house and at Fauve's, so if people wanna contact me, just email me or call my parent's house. This week, before I go home, I plan to:
- Have a good evening with Fauve since I won't see for a while now. I will miss her.
- Buy a good fall coat. All I have is a summer coat, a rain coat and a winter coat. Nothing really warm enough and yet thin enough for fall.
- Get a cell phone. I decided it was time I got one. Probably a pay-as-you-go type of contract since i,ll use it for emergency contacts. I prefer using a landline and skype for long discussions. Less expensive.
- Go get a boxes of ROSE books from Stanley.
- Get a change of address form.
- Get a employment end form to get money from the government until I find a new job (which i'm hoping will happen before November. But just in case.)
- go see Isabelle to give her her copy of ROSE
- go see Tama to give her her drawings.
EXUBERANCE!

Date: 2009-09-28 11:09 pm (UTC)Glad you got everything moved over OK. When we moved to our second floor apartment, we didn't have any elevators either. Still that's nothing compared to three floors! Yikes!!
Good luck with getting settled and everything! Keep us notified!

Date: 2009-09-29 05:06 pm (UTC)Good riddance to him! I hope you don't get stuck paying for October. It's obviously his own fault he can't get another tenant. Judging by your descriptions of him, he probably radiates creep vibes that scare people off.
