A miracle is happening.
I'm getting off my butt and I'm actually posting some of my stuff on Secondlinas Lj. Oo;;;;;
I'M amazed, even if you guys aren't. This is something I mentionned to Isa (SecondLina) that I would do about half a year ago. It's finally going from myth to reallity.
For those of you that don't know who this is yet, I'm Pascal Michaud, otherwise known as link in this Lj. I'm Secondlinas long distance boytoy... oups.. Boyfriend. Yeah... that sounds about right.
I'm 22, I just finished my 2 year 3D animation program at La Cite collegiale in Ottawa. I just moved over to Toronto to go live with one of my best friends and my twin brother who's also into 3D animation, about 3 month ago. I (annoyingly) still don't have a job in 3D because I had to stay in Ottawa to get a hernia operation after I finished my program. Because of it, I didn't feel up to moving out of my parents house and over to Toronto for a full 3 month (1 month to finally get the operation, 2 month to recover). Once I got over to Toronto though, I sent my portfolio to all the 3D companies I could find (maybe, 12 or so), but I ALWAYS got the same answer. ALL 3D companies do ALL their recruiting at the end of the school semester. By the time I got there, they had already gotten all the employees they needed till next january. :(

So I ended up finding myself a temporary job over at Market probe Canada. I basicly do a bunch of surveys over the phone 8 hours a day.
DON'T GET ME WRONG!!!!! This is NOT telemarketing. I am not selling my sould over the phone. I do not get paid per survey I complete, I get paid per hour I work. So I'm in no way supposed to pressure anybody into doing anything. I hear sombody say he would rather not do the survey, I hang up, period.
I actually applied to this job knowing that socialising, communicating and articualting were some of my biggest problems. It's, for that matter, one of the biggest reasons why I decided to applied in the first place. I suck at doing this sorta thing and I really hate doing it.... which is why I needed to suck it in and just go thru it, so that I could fix those problems.
I use to hate the phone. Now I'm actually ok with it after only 6 weeks.
The first 3 weeks where BY FAR the worst. I woke up every morning hating myself. I dreaded those days...
But since then I actually started noticing some improvement in my articulating and communication sk1llz. How cool is that. Another cool thing is that I spend 8 hours a day speaking french... in Toronto!!!!!! Now that's bizare!!!! Plus, I actually get paid better because I'm in french. The pay is actually pretty decent and I get good liberty on days off I might want.
So it's actually an ok job... Till I get a real job in 3D, that is.
And like most of you already know, I'm somewhat of an artist myself. I can draw, althought, where Secondlina will do 5 drawing in 10 minutes, I'll do a single drawing in 1 hour. I can model, both in 3D and with clay or dough of some sort, I can animate 2d and 3d, I paint and I colour with photoshop and a few other miscelanious forgoten talents like cooking and the likes.
SecondLina's been trying to push me to post some of my stuff here for the last little while, but I never got around to doing it. Well... Today's the day.
Here's a drawing I did of myself today at work. I realised I could sorta see my reflexion in my monitor and since I had been trying to draw myself for the last few days, I decided to just go for it and I was able to do this in the repetitive "waiting on hold" part of my day.
I think Its actualy bears a pretty good resemblance to me.
Heres a picture of a crazy skinnny girl I was able to find. I, for some reason, went on this weird photoshop trip a few days ago and I decided to see if I couldn't give her skin a green look but while still keeping a realistic look to the picture. One thing led to the other and I ended up giving her long pointy ears some kind of dottish patern on her skin and added some lighting effects and a few leaves blowing in along with a few other minor alteration. This is the end result.
It's a nymph!!!!!!
Theres actually 4 progressively earlier versions of this picture making some kind of a step by step sorta thing.
I think it ended up being pretty good.

I kinda think this post has been going on for long enough and Secondlina didn't show me the trick for hidding large post under a smal link, so I think I'll leave it at that. At least this way, you know a bit more about me and what I can do. So I'm ending up feeling pretty good about this post.
