Agreed on the limited palette, it sets a great mood for the picture. :) We use a similar system for hot-water and heating - judging from what you described, there might some problem with the pressure in the pipes. Worth mentioning to the janitor or whatever that person is called there who is supposed to keep the building in one piece. ;)
