And those are a few of my favorite things!

This post is going to be a mix-match pile of stuff methinks.

First off, my boyfriend is really awesome. I,m glad I have him around. He'll be doing all the coloring and shading for "Namesake" until i'm done with "Jabberwocky". This helps a lot. It's a good 6 hours of work I don't have to do every week. Yay! Plus i'm not very good at it so...

I found an amusing drawing on the internet showing how to create an icecream cake. I want to make this so bad. As soon as I have more free time, you bet this is happening! (Original art by the French Toast Girl). I love ice cream cakes. This one is like... custom. I should use soft sunday ice cream though. And maybe mix the cookie crumbs directly in it.... YUM.

For a lactose intolerant girl, I sure like eating them forbidden things.

Oh, and awesomeness - The studio behind the Gorgeous film "Secret of Kells" is working on a new movie called "The song of the sea". This movie seems inspired by fairy tales such as the "Mermaid Wife" or "The Seal woman". It's fairy tales similar to the "Feather dress" in the sense that it is about a fantastic being that sues a piece of cloth to change fro her magical form to a human form and that she is bound to a man who hides the cloth. Sometimes, the wife is truly in love. Other times, she is a prisoner. This type of tales are amazing, and i'm sure this animated film will be as well. I can't wait.

Click here to watch the teaser trailer. Yes. You want to.

On this side, Jabberwocky is going well. Only 10 or so pages left, if I include all the extra drawings. Heck yeah.

As soon as Jabberwocky is done, I have a few commissions to work on (mostly, wedding invites for a few people). Then some storyboard work and some more comic work... I'm really busy but I love it. Though, as soon as Jabberwocky is over, i'll be able to put a bit more of my free time on the social side. The other projects aren't quite as insane.

Drawing is awesome.

Ooo more from that awesome studio. Cool.

That first drawing looks like it's from Blankets.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! i can't wait!

Does it? Hahahah! Well, it's by me, so it's not. But thanks! That's flattering.

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oohh I knew you drew it - I just thought that the male character looked like the one from Blankets.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a bit more buff methinks. But they do have a similar face. I love Blankets so much! Is it one of your favorite comics too?

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
One of them, yes - though it's so hard to read. it's so bittersweet ;.;

My family has made ice cream cakes, although we put two different kinds of ice cream with a layer of brownie bites in between. Then, we add cool whip on top and sprinkle slice bits of a chocolate bar on top. ^_^

I can't wait to see Song of the Sea. You know, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Cartoon Saloon ended up being as well known as Pixar soon. ^_^

BROWNIE BITTTTEEESSS?

My heart, you just shot through it. URGH BROWNIES AND ICE CREAM.

I look at that picture, and the first thing to spring to mind is, "Don't go breaking my heart." That song is so catchy, it's not funny. It's constantly getting stuck in my head!

Congrats on the drawing progress! The home stretch is near! It will definitely help being able to focus on just Jabberwocky for now. I'd hate for you to experience "burn out" from having too much to do in too little a time.

Life is cruel to me. I am not at all lactose intolerant, but I can't really stomach ice cream cake. Not only is it too cold for my teeth to bite into (oh, the pain!), I just don't enjoy it. And depending on the combination of things with it, it doesn't stay with me long... You could probably make a sherbet cake or some variant though, to give you the "ice cream-esque" experience without the intolerance kicking in. Way back when we always made sure to get sherbet for our lactose-intolerant roommate so she could enjoy a cold treat with the rest of us.

Dang it. Now I want ice cream. That isn't cake. Or maybe just cake. Or something to soothe my throat. Sickness finally caught up with me. XO

What? No Elvis?

Hahahaha i'm starting to feel a bit of a burn. hopefully the final stretch will be productive enough so that I can finish before it turns into a burn-out. I don't think I would burn-out, but i'm definitely having a bit of anxiety. Oh god. Can't sleep. Pages will eat me. At least i'm not sick. Oh god if I was sick on top of things... By the way, how are you doing? Feeling better?

Sherbet could work. Or mousse. I could always make a mousse cake and surround it with layers of cookie crumbs like this. Or cheese cake! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS AND DELICIOUUUS!

I want ice cream cake now ... *wibbles*

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
As do I.

mmmm ice cream cake...

also...

I might just use that pic you posted for something I need to do for homework...

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The heart one? Or the Aislin one? What type of homework would that be for? :D

Ooh, I love that sepia drawing! And I'm in agreement with the beauty and deceiving simplicity of ice cream cake. NOM.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
The question is... How to flatten hard ice cream? A rolling pin?

[identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I never knew you were lactose intolerant! I was for a little while after my diagnosis with Crohn's, but it's better now. I could eat dairy, but I had to take these pills.

That artwork for the "Song of the Sea" that you posted reminds me of Klimpt in the style! Cool!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. The pills basically contain something that digests the dairy for you.

That artwork is actually for "Secret of Kells". There's barely any artwork out for song of the sea :(

Oh really?! I wonder if it's available on DVD somewhere then?

[identity profile] kit-a-licious.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I love your heart drawing! Back when I had it bad for this guy, I drew a bunch of crappy but similar in tone sketches that this brought to mind. I'd love to see what you would have done applying your style to a similar theme.

The NEX here has the Secret of Kells DVD and I've never seen it before...is it worth it? :O

YES. A thousand times yes.
