Bugs and Celestial Maidens

To resume the bedbug issue : my friend Fauve hooked me up with a website saying that according to Montréal law, extermination of certain pests where to be organized and paid by the landlord himself, the list of pests included bed bugs. So despite what them concierge told me, I contacted my landlord directly and voilà, my apartment is going to be hosting an extermination team on Friday. And I don't have to pay for it.

Before the exterminators show up, me and Link basically have to clean EVERYTHING in the apartment and wash everything and anything that may be composed of fabric, even in the rooms that are not the bedroom. So, my apartment is gradually becoming cleaner then it's ever been, ever. Not that i'm usually messy, but DANG, THIS IS REALLY ANAL CLEANING.

I had to toss out a few things, pillows and Megatron, the giant carnival tiger plushy. I'm a little sad about that.

So, I guess I was lucky in my bad luck. Still, we have so much work ahead of us (about 70 loads of laundry. I kid you not).

Art of the day! This one is for putri-nih. It's her own original characters from a comic called "Changeling". I really like her characters because the one with the floaty scarf? That's a kid that is part-fairy, based on the "Tennin" legend.

Tennin can fly thanks to their colored or feathered kimonos, called hagoromo ("dress of feathers"), also represented by something I like to designate as "Floaty wavy scarf of awesome". In some legends, tennin are unable to fly without these kimonos (and thus cannot return to heaven). In a Noh play called Hagoromo, tennyo come to the earth and take off their hagoromo. A fisherman spies them and hides their clothes in order to force one to marry him. After some years he tells his wife what he did, and she finds her clothes and returns to heaven.

Yes, this is similar to the story of the Muses in Greek legend. And the story of the swan maidens in western fairy tales. And it was used in the anime "Ayashi no Ceres". It's also really awesome.

I am so glad you don't have to pay, but I also am sad about the sacrifices you still have to make ;.;

Once it's all over, though, it'll be worth it!

Ugh, that is the pits! I'm happy the landlord is responsible for the cost, though, and not you.

Your artwork is charming, as usual - I especially love that profile in the top-right corner. How cute!

I really like the word "exterminator", it is so ... powerful.

You are lucky if you don't ahev to pay ! And your apartment will be immaculate after that :D

Great, now I really wanna give my room an extra cleaning, especially the tile floors. I wish the entire floor was carpented. >>;
We're responsible for keeping our rooms clean, but as for bug problems, well, that's exactly why we keep our rooms clean in the first place, to PREVENT any bug problems!

Also, that is some cute art. :D I haven't watched Aya no Ceres, unfortunately. D: I HAVE seen the creator's other popular work, Fushigi Yugi.

That's good, I'm sure it's a relief to know you'll be able to be rid of them soon. Cleaning is a pain though, we had to do the same thing with fleas.

I love those kind of stories. Is this Changeling comic online to read? It sounds interesting.

HAH! I'm glad to hear that landlord gotta pay for that.
Sorry to hear about the loss of Megatron. D:
At least you'll feel more secure post-fumigation.

"Ayashi No Ceres"... So many memories.

Yay on not having to pay for exterminators! I mean, it really should be the responsibility of the landlord for something like that...

Whoa on the epic cleaning. I dunno if I'd be able to physically do that much cleaning ever! But, I guess you do what you must.

And I am sorry for the loss of Megatron.

"Floaty wavy scarf of awesome" This is my new favorite technical term. I always wondered what those thins were.

at least things are starting to look up :D

Hey are you going to TCAF? :D

Oh that's a fun story :) I like modern bents to old mythological stories! I like the characters to, they look playful and carefree =D

As to the bed bug situation, wahoo no pay for you! And the extra cleaning in the end will give you all kinds of happy warm feelings :P As for Megatron, noooo! 0o Is it too late to grab him up? If he's not been taken away, there is something you can do to kill the bugs without getting rid of your things. You just have to tie him up tightly in a garbage bag and set him in a dark closet for at least two to three weeks. That should kill any of the bugs that may have infested him. They do that for kids toys when they get lice, and I figure bed bugs can't be much different in that aspect :/

Ick! From what I hear bed bugs are tough to rout, I hear stories that they can spread by finding their way in to baggage and even clothing. O_o But it's good that the landlord is going to flip the bill on it, though it means that everyone in the complex has to be anal about cleaning otherwise they'll resurface.

And I have to say I really like how you do hands! It's tough to get so much natural movement and flow in such a tiny area.

Just think of it as pre-Spring cleaning, so when Spring cleaning comes around, it will be really easy! (Also, I always put on the "Happy Working Song" from Enchanted when I had to get serious about cleaning. It really lightened the mood and made the chore actually enjoyable. Behold, the power of positive music!)

Also, super late comment. I don't know the characters (for obvious reasons), but I find your drawing really appealing. I'm still going to envy how you draw clothing so easily - according to the rough sketchies I see.
