Radio Silence...

I just want to point out, first and foremost, that Link will be moving his stuff to Montréal on the 25th. Meaning that I won't have any computer to update, and only the computer at work to answer my messages. Since i'm only going home from the internship on the second of july, don't panic if my email responses are slow until then. From the 25 of june to the 2nd of july, i'm not dead, i'm just in radio silence. Don't panic everyone XD.

Okay, now that that's done...

I'm currently listening to the Utena soundtrack of the movie. Damn it's good music! I actually saw at a comic store around here the special manga created for the movie. I really should buy it; i've been meaning to read it. I also want to buy the fifth book of Emma that came out today, which is an awesome manga! Good story, nice drawings, historical exactitude!

The story of Emma is about a maid in a victorian household that falls in love with a man from a higher social status. Yes, roll your eyes people, you see where this is going don't you? Well, you don't! Emma is a very researched manga, details of the Victorian area are included in almost every panel. Thus, the story is much more realistic and I don't think it's going to finish with a pink fluffy cheap ending. Up to now, it most certainly doesn't look like it will! So Emma. Look it up. Good manga. There's an anime as well.

I forgot to include in my to do list : Getting my driver's license. I need to pass my exam when I get home. I dread that. I'm very much out of practice right now. I think i'll try kicking in two weeks of intense driving before passing it. But i'm sure the exam itself will be fine as soon as I practice a bit more.

I'm currently finishing up a doujinshi for[profile] ichiban_victory . Sher and I often trade art for art, in this case, a doujin about a personal character (her D&D / WoW avatar) for an armada of Work creatures. Seems like a fair deal. The Doujin is relativly sort (only 15 pages this time!) but the drawings are really worked. I love the cover page I did...

For the cover I tried to explore not Relina's knight side, but her beautiful elf side (she has a blessed chest people. The girl is hot.) I like the shine and the toga effect.

The doujin itself is about Relina meeting again with an former travel companion who assumed she was deceased. THe former companion, named Ianil speaks to her for a while and helps Relina realise it's time she risked her life for her cause. Relina has a curse making so that killing her greater ennemy will result in her death.

The pages look really full and good. I still hate inking though.

That's all for now I believe.

The doujin looks great and the story sounds promising, also, the works as seen in the pictures seem to be good home partners, a fair deal indeed.

That top banner is really funny and I've find the Oz series quite amusing.

What else can be said that: Enjoy your Link before he moves and good luck with your to do list (although you still have time before worrying about that).

I just got the fourth book of Emma yesterday! God I love it!!! Emma is awesome! I love how the story is believable. It's so cool!

Hey, when you get back to Canada maybe you, me, tanya and anyone else you can think of should do an anime night!

[identity profile] annekay.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
mm, it's all on stoptazmo.com, i'm so bad with my scanlation reading...

anyway, when i get back, anime night is an awesome idea :D

Emma is one of the mangas that I have been wanting/dying to read, but haven't managed to get my hands on yet. I love stories that take place during Victorian era. I really need to watch more of the anime too. ^_^;

I really like the Relina cover art. It's very pretty. ^_^

You know, if you ever get the chance you should check out SAIUNKOKU MONOGATARI It's a really good anime (I can't wait to buy the first DVD when it comes out in August), and the fansubs can still be found on youtube.

I've been wanting to get Emma for a while too when I got it. Mainly because I wasn't sure if it was good of bad. Most manga in a victorian era with frilly maids then to be extremly innacurate. But honestly, I don't regret getting this series. It's unbelievably awesome.

THat looks good too. It's not one of those "all the boys are in love with the one girl" series I hope!

[identity profile] earthstar-moon.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard that the creator did a lot of research on the Victorian era before she worked on Emma, so that's probably why it's so awesome.

No, it's not. While there are a lot of bishie characters in it, it's only two guys at the most that is in love with the main girl (but most of the time it's one) It does have alot of humour, characterization and real good plot. Bloodangel452 also recommends it. ^_~

I love doing art trades with you! I'd still take being able to draw like that over sewing dolls though...but so it goes. And wow, the art! Are you smitten with my character? XD (I'll have to hide this from the gaming group for fear of never getting it back again!) I'll just dance back here in the corner while I wait for everything to be complete and in my hands. (Eee!) And I'll be sure to get 'Artemis' ready to go so you won't be lacking a computer for too long.

Incentive for the driver's license: If [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny and I are to come up to visit you guys, I'd much prefer letting someone else who knows the area (wo)man the steering wheel. Driving is a great liberator! ^_^

I love Relina! Ianil's pretty cute too. <3

Hey, I can drive us around! I'm a good driver, I don't care what Stef says!

[identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what this means? Icons!

(Shh! I'm trying to encourage her! I can drive too, but it's not quite the same.)

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't be sending it before I get home since i'll need to bind it and such...Unless Link knows a good printing place...I'll ask.

*Isa at the wheel turns around*
"Hey Diane you know the thing with th..."
*Diane and Meg* "OH MY GOD THE ROAD! WATCH THE ROAD! AAAAAAH!"

[identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I figured it wouldn't be until next month. I'm working nearly every single day anyway, so the time will fly by. Heck, this'll be something major to look forward to when I get home from work every day. "Did it come? Did it come? Drat... Oh well, maybe tomorrow!" *eternal optimist*

Oh goodness, no! Although you would have a year, or almost a year, to work on the driving skills. This reminds me when we had to ride with my younger sister when she was learning how to drive. She nearly took out the neighbor's mailbox because she was so close to the edge of the road! I don't think I had a stomach the entire time she was learning... (I'm just thankful I hadn't had my license long enough for her to be able to drive when I was alone with her.)

Victorian Romance Emma!!! I love that series! Unfortunately, I can hardly find it here. I've only gotten the first two volumes. I think I may have to order it online or something.

And beautiful artwrok! The cover especially is quite striking! Me, I've always been a fan of the Elven Race. This just solidifies it for me.

[identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you'd be disappointed. Relina is a High Elf, yes, but she's far from really acting like one. She's had an odd life. First off, paladin. That's way beyond the norm for an elf. ^_-

(Isa, I think you'll be amused to hear that last night Relina's group sailed way down south and among other things, wore togas. I didn't make the connection until this morning. Many jokes were had about Relina sending many men to the afterlife for looking at her wrong.)

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
TOGA!!!!!!

Hey, you should show the cover to them XD

[identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure I will at some point. If nothing else, I'll show the two other girls in my group since the one is an artist, and the other aspires to be an artist. (She's a wonder with cake decorating though!) I think they'll get a kick out of it. I fear the guys ogling...

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Hum. Odd. Well, it's not really popular, hence the not finding it easily I suppose. But it should be popular, it's so good! One of those misunderstood series I think.

I prefer dwarves since I find elves concived, but I like this elf...maybe because she was raised by dwarves ;)

[identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I like Elves in general. Never having played D&D, I'm not familiar with those types of Elves.

[identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
D&D elves aren't really different than anything else. Did you ever see Record of Lodoss War? Remember Deedlit? She was a High Elf (same as Relina) who are characterized as being...well, as the name implies, the main elves who usually live far away from humankind in the forest. D&D does have many more types (offhand, Wild Elves, Wood Elves, even those who are acclimated to snowy regions or who can fly), but pretty much all share in basic things like long ears and even longer lifespans.

...and they look cooler than LotR elves. XP

I'm not usually a fan of elves either since they are usually snobby when around 'lower' beings such as humans. The general attitude is that they are better than mere mortal races. I totally made Relina up at random, and rolled up a history for her where she pretty much abandons elven ways to seek her own path in life, so she looks an elf, but she doesn't really act one.

Gorgeous cover! The flow of the hair is a lovely frame for the figure and the draping of the toga streaming down to the glow very, very nice!

The pictures here are such teasers. I wanna know what's going on, like who's the little one with the empty talk bubble?

Will miss you during radio silence. Hope everything goes well for you. Good luck with the drivers license exam!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish the cover was better centered, but I had trouble making it nice and symetric...

There's text all over the page that was "edited out." But the bubble says "Mommy?" XD
