secondlina: (What!)

It's all downhill from here...

I woke up on monday, knowing this week would suck. It's one of those "I swear the devil is on my doorstep" weeks.
Monday started with me ill, shoved face foward in the throne. It was a lovely morning. On the same day, I learned several negative things, mainly that the bus routes were changing, as I mentionned before.
Well get this: not only is it gonna go from difficult to impossible for me to get to school...My school is also moving!!!
Ottawa university is composed of several buildings. About 15 to be correct. Visual arts is situated in a very old and broken down building. The only reason that building still stands it's because of it's historical value. It's full of very harmful stuff for the students like asbestos and poisonous rot.
We've been begging for a move or invested money for repairs. In response, they cutted our budget. Twice.
And now we finally get to move....In a much shittier building!!!!
I'm not even joking.
They are moving us (and JUST us) into a new "Visual arts" building that is not even on campus. It's 30 minutes away, and apparently it's in this part of town were stabbing and rape are daily routine. Okay. We have like...10 guys in our program. The rest is all girls. They are sending a bunch of girls in a bloody shipwreck. A bloody shipweck with a damaged roof might I add, since the said roof was partially blown off in the shootting of a movie. That building used to belong to Algonquin college. If the college din't want it anymore...it must be for a reason.

WHAT. THE. HELL?

They say they will make repairs, install 24 hour security and give us a shuttle.

YEAH RIGHT!

Oh, and the best part: Our old building will have close to a million dollards invested in itself to be repaired and become...The Dean's new office.

I dunno about you guys, but I feel sick again.

They are kicking art out. We are nothing but second-rate students to them. They are ready to pay out the nose for law or doctor students just to SAY that they attended Ottawa U. But art? AH! Nothing but parasites to them. What a rip. What an outrage.

We are going to write to papers, and bitch and moan and whine. This can't happen. It's so silly, it's surreal!

Now i'm wondering why I din't go to montreal or Toronto to study.

And I can't just quit and leave. I'm almost done. I'd have to start back at square one. I don't want that. I don't want these last three years to have been pointless!!!!!

Damn it to hell.

i knew we were moving but i did not know that we were moving from shit to shittier! that sucks ass. we should protest
how can they move us away from campus too. what the hell.

by the way, where is this "new" building?

...I can't believe that! The world truly is becoming a horrible place if it doesn't realize how important art is to mankind. (After all, lawyers come and go, but art lasts for centuries after the artist.) Maybe I should drag you down to BYU or something. Somewhere where they have a good art program, and they appreciate their students.

Good luck protesting the school's stupidity! XO

This province is so stupid. When I see stuff like this, it makes me remember how McGuinty has his priorities ALL WRONG.

Is amazing how the school authorities can be so blind to their students needs and foccus on irrelevant stuff (um... most of the time authorities in general are like that), and it's even worse when some students are cherished (call them law, medicine, chemestry...) and some others have to make their best with the leftovers....

You should try the protest as 'annekay' suggested, and by You I'm not only talking about you, neither only the Arts students, but the most stundents who can be gathered (union makes strenght), it usually works fine on small things.

Even if you decide to drop the University, that doesn't make your three last years pointless, it's all about growing as an artist and as a person.... anyways don't give up, teach them who they should be working for.
