I love drawing Alice. Why? Because her proportions are non-existent. I mess up her proportions on purpose to make her crazy skinny with long legs. That's how I wanted the character to look. I wanted her to be mostly legs. She was one of the character that really came to life quickly. She has almost always looked like this. Her costume was a little different before, and she had long hair for a few sketches, but Alice really came together quickly, with a side of hot badass.
I love awesome ladies in books/movie/tv series. I'm a little sad that some turn out to be less badass then promised. In a lot of comics, a girl is shown as powerful, capable, awesome... And then she winds up getting saved all the time. Sometimes it's because the villains are just too strong. But really, how come the hero gets to win then? I find that odd.
Another odd thing of the week. I was re-reading my Sailor Moon mangas and noticed something a little ridiculous. Mamoru (Tuxedo mask), in the 16th book, leaves for the USA to study. And Usagi (Bunny/Serena/Sailor moon) is sad, because she won't get to see him often. Then, about a chapter later, you see this same girl teleport to another country and other sailors teleport to other planets! HELLO? Why is she even sad? SHE CAN TELEPORT? I love this series, but I think it's hilarious that everytime I read it, I notice something that doesn't work with the logic of their own universe. Weird.

Have you ever read Jeff Smith's comic Bone? It might be the biggest reason I started drawing seriously, and I reread the series once a year. The heroine, Thorn, is amazing, wonderfully presented -- we get to know her slowly, as Fone Bone does, and she is as powerful as a person can be. Her realization of her power is incredible, reacting with fear and trepidation and then wearing it like the crown it's meant to be. Your Alice reminds me of Thorn in a lot of ways (and as a matter of fact, THAT'S who your work reminds me off: Jeff Smith!).

Alice is a lot like Thorn, especially when Thorn is taking her role as a princess seriously (she takes up serious levels in badass seriously fast!). Which is why I love to draw Alice and to use her in the comic. She's got a really professional side, but she's fragile a bit too. Mostly, her leggy design makes her look more fragile and small. But really, she can take on a giant robot with a vorpal sword. Not to mention that Jack has her back!
I'm still so happy you love my art! In your case, I must ask, what do you want for your xmas sketch? :D I can't decide what to draw for you!

You know what? :D I just love everything you draw. I can't believe you want to draw something for me! I could love something with two people -- any two people, or more, hey! -- cuddling together. Every time you draw people touching and getting close it just shoots an arrow right through my heart. ♥

How about your own characters? Do you have a good example of what they look like? I could draw that! :D

Apparently, Mike is drooling over this picture as well. *smirks at him*

I do love badass females and it does annoy me too when they get turn into an object for the hero to save. It's really not until the second book, but I do love the strong females characters in the Queen's thief series. They don't actually fight, but they have badass moments.

And Alice has great legs!
Does Buffy count as bad-ass? It's all I can keep going back to. I haven't watched the series in a while I'm trying to remember the ratio of her getting herself out of crap versus people helping her out. She's practically Superwoman in the comics now though.

I told Isa on dA that Jack reminds me of Bill from the Harry Potter series. All he needs is a dragon fang earring, lol!!

Oh, I know, it happens most of the time >_<. probably the author wants to add a kickass girl because he wants to be modern and stuff...then totally forgets about her because he is not really that interested >_> (I'm an editor of the Faux Action Girl page at TVTropes, does it shows? XD)
About Sailor Moon...LOL. I haven't read the manga, so I didn't know it XDD

I have been reading the Sailor Moon manga too and I'm around the same part. I adore the manga, but it does have some plot holes.

Maybe the teleportation thing is, and I quote Luna from the American dubbed version, "ONLY FOR SAILOR BUSINESS?!" XDD

I'm sure you can gather I'm totally with you on the female bad ass that constantly needs saving *eye roll* Boo!
LOL! Sailor Moon... haven't read it, but that would annoy the crap out of me! :P

THAT is a hot badass.

Though that's true of many other anime. Many mangaka and anime creators seem to overdo the reliance on Rule of Cool to overcome consistency failure.
