Really, he's only violent because he wants to be loved.

Comic actually contains spoilers for Watchmen. (Believe it or not.)

I think this is hilarious.

Also, more concept sketches for the Slayers Steampunk. I love how this one could be one of those old photographs of people in front of a clock! Maybe i'll color it that way!

I'm debating about Gourry's hair. Should I cut it?

Banner status report - 3 banners are in the works, my own, [livejournal.com profile] earthstar_chan  's and [livejournal.com profile] the_flowergirl  's. My own is in the process to be colored. Earthstar's is inked and flowergirl as concept sketches done :)

Ha! Love the watchmen spoof! Can't wait to see the Slayers stempunk in full:) You're the bestest artist I know! *hug*

Thanks! :)

Oh my goodness, there are so many 'little boys' in that comic... (I'd say, MY EYES!, but it's not any worse that chibi angel Zelgadis. Oh, the horrors of proper anatomy!) ^_-;;

Dang, Gourry's not my favorite, but the way he's drawn with the hair and all - he looks *can't find proper word*...downright attractive! I vote his hair stays as is! It has that sort of gentlemanly look from way back when where slightly longer man(ly) hair was pulled back. I'd be lying if I didn't say how much I love that look! I sure hope Joanne gets this posted up for reading pleasure at some point. My curiosity has been piqued!

(I think I'm just a sucker for older style clothing in general. It definitely helps add to the atmosphere!)

*laughs* the .little boys. are actually a joke towards the movie. That character is blue, naked and glowing most of the movie and they aren't afraid to pull in the frontal shots. So, lots of blue wang action. I debated putting a black square when I drew this but I though *hey, if they didn't censor, why should i*

*laughs*

Oh, my, chibi angel Zel. It's been a while since I heard of that. I think I may keep his hair like this, or add a ponytail... Hum... I'm glad you're motivated to read the stuff. It's going to rock. We are trying to get a few chapters written and drawn out before posting so that we always have a bit of advance.

XD That's hilarious! I especially love the 'floaty floaty' effects. XD We just saw Watchmen today.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think he was actually floating that much, but I like the idea of him floating.

I love how you incorporated bits and pieces of the gang's original outfits into the steampunk clothes. That was a really nice touch.

And I vote for giving Gourry a short ponytail (does he already have one in the drawing? Its hard to tell from that angle). The super long hair wouldn't work in a victorian setting; so a ponytail is a good compromise.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it would not feel natural to create completly brand new outfits. They needed to echo a bit.

I think ponytail might be the big winner.

NNIICCEE!! Zel looks really hot and I love Amelia's dress. It would be interesting to see Gourry with a different hairstyle and he looks good. (I'm sure Meg will approve ^_~) You can always give him a ponytail. On that note, I started writing the first six pages of it. ^_^

Yay! Amelia's dress is awesome. Several characters might have 2 or so costumes. Lina has her normal outfit (shown in the precedent post) and her work outfit (seen here). Same with Amelia. Zel and Gourry might only have one, but it's going to change since it's probably going to have layering.

Ooh, great drawings. The last one is so awesome. Great job.

thank you!

Yay, my banner is started. ^_~

And steampunk Slayers? I am intrigued.

[identity profile] the-flowergirl.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Just two things I didn't think would go together, but it looks like they seem to be. ^__^

[identity profile] dqbunny.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
My vote is for a short ponytail. You two could even give a nod to the original long hair by Gourry mentioning it had been longer, but it got sheared off somehow. I actually liked the first concept pictures of Lina and Amelia, especially Amelia, better than the current one.

Now I have this funny thought of Rorschach having a LiveJournal. He would be PERFECT for Internet drama.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I like that idea of the whole *used to be longuer but got shorter because of random situation.* I like that!

The female characters have two costumes. Amelia has her pants suit, but also a really victorian poofy dress. As royalty she's cursed to look like a cupcap in formal events (I dunno if we'll get to see the dress, but I designed it anyways). This is lina's second costume. Her first is her street wear. This is her lab wear (short sleeves and wide pants instead of tailleur and skirt). I like the first costumes better too, these are those they might wear in specific situations :) I might rework them though, they seem very unfinished to me.

Rorchack's LJ? Eeeeeee. Is it fangirly if I think that's hilarious .] [.

I love the Watchmen comic. Hilarious! XD (Psst. Beware the blue snake!)

I've vote for a shorter than Gourry-normal ponytail pulled back in a more old-fashioned style or doing his full-length hair in a braid.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
The ponytail is mighty popular.

The blue snake is scary indeed. It's kinda hard to take the guy seriously...

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
We all just have trouble processing the idea of Gourry with short-hair.

Indeed. I know it helps to elaborate on how he's lost a lot of his humanity, but it was unnecessary to be nude 90% of the movie. Just made him seem silly in my mind. Like a toddler that keeps taking of his diapers/training pants and running around the yard.

[identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
*giggles uncontrollably* The Watchmen comic is PRECIOUS!!! LOVE IT!!

Threesome. Heeee...

Steampunk Slayers looks neato! And don't cut Gourry's hair. He wouldn't be Gourry then!

[identity profile] anna-nimmie-tee.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but your comic is amusing anyway.

Gourry's only "ornament" is his hair and his main distinguishing feature, other than his blue outfit and light armor. Lina and Amelia have their jewels and talismens in addition to their hair lengths, Zelgadiss, his rocks, pointed ears, and wire hair and HIS talismen. Without the long hair, Gourry just looks like your standard, run of the mill, anime stud-gorgeous but cookie-cut. I'd say keep the long hair, but have it in a long ponytail or braid. If people complain it wouldn't fit the period, well, neither does Amelia's short hair nor nor the female Xelloss' short hair, unless they sold their hair to make some money. (Although there are short-ahired women in Girl Genius.)
