Day off

Today is a national holiday in Canada. So, i,m gonna stay home, do some laundry and draw. I'm going to draw a lot. Because that's honestly what I like to do on my days off. Stay in my kimono-ish bathrobe and draw. Well, I might actually put on jeans, since laundry is outside the apartment. Unless I can convince the boyfriend to do my bidding. Hum. And maybe i'll fix up my bike too. As many of you know, biking is something I adore. I could seriously bike all day, every day. It's right up there in my favorite things with eating, sleeping and drawing.

Kung Fu Panda 2 comes out next week! I'm seriously stocked to see it. I loved the first. so there. The new "Pirates" movie is out. I kinda want to see it too, but I think I might just wait for the DVD release. I like Jack, but I'm not too sure about the quality of this sequel. It sounds like a lot of awesome scenes strung together with poor plot. Then again, it has mermaids, so it might just get me to go see it in theaters just for that. *laughs*

This was a pretty good, relaxing weekend. I felt sick for most of Saturday morning. But I got better. Friends visited to celebrate my upcoming birthday, which was nice. I also managed to score some new comics. Woo. One day, I think I might actually classify my collection with the Dewey system or something. It's so large. *laughs*

Not much to talk about, I gotta say. Basically conclude from this that I have done little work this whole weekend and mostly just relaxed like a cat spread in the sunlight of a window. Yeah.

I did finish these namesake drawings. They are for convention flyers. I wanted one to be kinda funny and the other, Dramatic. So one is two girls in a pile of books, and the other is Emma having tea with "past incarnations" of Alice, Wendy, Ozma and Dorothy. And the ghost. Hey, we'll get to see plenty of the ghost in the next cuple of pages. I can't wait. I love drawing her.

Well, that's it.

Who said the new Pirates movie had poor plot? I think people just like to whine. When the last few strung plots throughout the movies, they were deemed too complicated. So now that they keep everything contained within the movie, it has no plot? You would be foolish to heed what they say and not see the movie in the theatre. Even if you only go to see the mermaids (which you totally need to! They are amazing in all of their frightening glory), I think you'll be very surprised by the movie.

I know I'm glad I saw it on the big screen. That alone allowed me to catch attention to detail that won't be so easy to see once it's on my t.v. screen.

I said the new Pirates movie had a poor plot. I also think it was a very uninspired and uninspiring movie. And I don't just "like to whine." I just like movies.

(I'm sorry if I sounded aggressive, I didn't mean to, but the internet doesn't allow for a sheepish tone :( I wrote a whole review on my LJ in case you feel like discussing my perspective or something, that way we don't invade Lina's comment section :P)

Also, who said the last two were complicated? They were just about pirates... doing stuff... and going places...

I'm pretty okay with waiting for the DVD because I have a fairly large television, and action movies in theaters seem to make me feel ill. But I want to see this movie. Just not sure when!

[identity profile] the-flowergirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The word you're thinking of is stoked, not stocked. :)

Burt and I saw the new Pirates on Saturday, and we had a lot of fun. The plot, to me, seemed better than the last one.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, oops!

Oh, that's good news! Thanks!

[identity profile] engelen.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the one with the books, and your coloring is getting better!! :D

Also,
1) That guy on PotC4 was NOT Jack Sparrow. It was Johnny Depp dressed up as Jack Sparrow. Jack Sparrow is COOL.
2) None of the scenes were "cool"
3) The mermaids are there for like, 5 minutes.

I'm all about hanging around the house in nothing but a housecoat :P today's agenda is do art and read comics! Lofty goals I know! LOL! XD

Fantastic artwork as always! I really like that last one! Gives an epic feel of heroics and danger! =D

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Danger and literature. Good mix.

[identity profile] kuridee.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I absolutely love the color scheme on the first drawing, and the second one is just epic.

Can't wait for Kung Fu Panda 2! And Pirates was pretty cool, too. Worth seeing!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for letting me know!

Kung Fu Panda 2 is going to kick ass. I loved their little christmas special too.

[identity profile] psychosongtress.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yay Kung Fu Panda!!!!

I think Pirates is worth seeing, For the mermaids alone. They were my favorite part of the show. I think I just have mixed feelings because I thinking of the movie as a sequel to the original three. Of course there will be a difference since most of the characters don't return, and there is a new pace. BUUUT, its still funny, and the Mermaids are truly awesome XD

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's an odd movie, because you have to take it in independently from the previous 3, and yep you still need to consider them. it's odd.

[identity profile] amelia-seyroon.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
KUNG-FU PANDA~! <3

I'm the same as you, I'm only interested in seeing the fourth sequel for the MERMAIDS! xD

Seeing as I have issues with leaving the base in the first place, I can only wait for blu-ray releases. >D

And Happy Birthday!

First things first:

HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

OK, now that that's out of the way, onto the rest. LOVE the drawings! So. Awesome!

And I too am looking forward to Kung Fu Panda 2. Too too cute!

And mom and I went to see 'Pirates' this weekend. I really liked it. the plot wasn't too bad, I gotta say. Plenty of swashbuckling. And the missionary is really cute (I posted pics on my Tumblr).

And next Monday is our day off. No idea what I'm gonna do...

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)

What you describe about your favourite thing to do on a day off is something I've recently re-discovered about myself. A whole entire weekend without appointments or obligations, with plenty of food in the fridge, coffee on my desk, pj's and a new drawing project in my head i'm really enthusiastic about. (maybe the last one is most important, and some creative flow going around, if that's covered i can spend days like this)

Love the two drawings, the dramatic one has excellent composition! And the colored one: love the flat limited colours with gradient ;) (I know, I'm biased, but YES it looks GOOD!)

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Those weekends are far more awesome then I used to think.

[identity profile] cartoonchic.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYYY!!
I'd sing but trust me you don't want that.
Hope you have a wonderful day :) and i wish i could draw as well as you!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :D :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I just started cataloging my comic collection, too. I want to make sure I never accidentally buy a copy of a comic I already own ever again (I've done that once or twice when bargain hunting in the dealers' rooms at cons).

I love the "dramatic" Namesake flyer. I can't wait to see how it looks once the final inking/coloring is done.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh gosh, I did that once or twice myself. It's so annoying. Especially when you can't return them.

[identity profile] angelchan-2004.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for days off!

I'm so excited for Kung Fu Panda omg<3 As for the new Pirates, I think my love of the movies in general will snag me along. So long as I can find a way to the theater, hahaha. Maybe I'll be able to make a date of it!

Loooooove the pictures<3 Especially the detail in the second one! I would totally buy those prints~

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I should sell some nice prints of them :D
