Art that should be deviant?

So I finally caved and decided to re-open my deviant art account. Yes, I know, those of you who know me well remember my deviant art rants. But give or take, deviant art is one of the best places for an artist to advertize on the internet. So I swallowed my pride and re-opened one.

Too bad I can't remember how this thing works at all. Damn it.

For now, there's nothing in it. I don't really know what i'll put in. Probably some comics, maybe some fanart, for sure some Waldo x Carmen. I still need to show you guys some of that. Maybe some avatar, obviously some Slayers...  I'd like to be able to be noticed on Deviant art. I'm an attention whore, I know.

Don't have a drawing right now. So check out this one. It's been drawn by Link. And colored too. I think he's much better at photoshop than me... It's inspired by the artist Klimt (one of my favorites) and a dancing video on youtube. Originally done as a present for me.



Oh well, back to work I guess. Tonight I need to finish some pages on Rose (i'm finally up to the inking process for some of them. I miss inking.) and I might draw something else. But you guys, the Avatar Box sets are VERY counter productive. *laughs* Oh, I need to buy food too. Isa need food.

I went ahead and added you to my watch list on DA. ^^ (Don't worry, I still have issues figuring out DA too...it doesn't help that I just noticed some of the drop down menus get covered by the ads. XP)

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be recognized! You're an artist and a bit of advertising might be good. I'm not sure what your original rants with DA were (though I could probably guess at some of it), but you can always leave out the artworks you don't want to put up there. :)

I think everyone can guess why I hate deviant art. A lot people seem to. But it's still the best online art database of all time. So, urgh, i'm back on it. Hopefully I won't loose patience with it once more.

Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous coloring. And I'll add you to my DA list too. I just have random photographs and some writing up there. I definitely realize the beefs you have with it, but as Zen says, you deserve the exposure. And if Link EVER sells prints of that ...

Yes, if I want to start a webcomic of some kind, I can't poof out of thin air. So I need to start creating a name. Lj is cool, but it feels more private. And i'd like to keep it private too. Having 300 people leaving you dumb messages does not interest me. Deviant art is a good stage to take in the crazy.

hahaha, i'll let him know you'd like a print. I got a super-ultra-nice-high-quality print/frame for xmas. It's over my computer. So pretty.

Deviantart isn't perfect place (ex: the popularity contest for one), but it is one of the better places to host art. Although, I will admit I find I've been posting more art on LJ than on deviantart for the last year. ^_^;

How many of the Avatar boxsets do you have? All three or just the first one? Just curious.

On that note, since you're now into Avatar, I suggest you check out Booterfreak: http://booter-freak.deviantart.com/ She does hilarious Avatar gag comics.

I like that person! I've seen her stuff before, it's even funnier now! I had an idea for my own avatar jokes I wanted to call *Avatar misquotes* because some of the things they say misquoted would be hilarious.

I dream of art thievery only to come across this post? Oh dear... I do have an account at DA, but I don't use it all that often. I'd never ever put original art on there since...I don't usually make any (they don't usually get past the initial sketch stage), and I'm really leery of art thievery since it happens a lot on there. My kid sister has had more than her fair share...

Good luck with the exposure though!

Art thievery sucks. It's one of the reasons my hatred for deviant art is so damn strong. But I'll try to aply watermarks to my stuff and mostly post fanstuff. At least this way I can minimize the damage XD

That weird old guy who just friended you over there is me; I set up a DeviantArt account mostly to surf around and look at other people's stuff, although I've posted a few of my own pictures along the way. Maybe not what I'd call art, exactly ...
