Follow Alice...

My current obsession of the day is Alice Lorenzi. A friend showed me a book she self-published... Her art is gorgeous and I am in awe.

Speaking of gorgeous art - I also went through the book "Il était une fois Disney" (Once upon a time there was Disney in french), an exhibit book about the Disney exhibit there was in Montréal last year. The art is gorgeous and they compare a lot of it to classical art history. It's wonderful. Disney might be an evil mega-corporation, but that will NEVER prevent me from loving the art.

Winterlude opens this weekend in Ottawa/Gatineau. For them americans on my list; Winterlude is some kind of winter ball with concerts and slides and activities that last 3 weeks. There's a few sites where Winterlude is happening, one of them being the Jacques Cartier Park, a huge park in front of my house. While they were building the winter slides, it prevented me from sleeping. I hope the activities won't. Oh well. The idea of getting daily beaver tail pastries makes me happy.

In about an hour or so i'm gonna go help my friend Tama paint her new appartment. I'm guessing she will want a nice paint job and not a fresco *laughs*

I love the art, such a good flow to it.

If you get a chance I'd love to see some scans of the Disney exhibit book, I wonder if any of the art of it is online at all.

Have fun with the painting experience.

Her self-published book is called "pourquoi me fuir?" (Why must you run from me?) and it's impossible to get. Her current book though, is here.

It's called the Hours of Glass. Sorry if the website is in french, I don't think she's on any english websites.

I know just enough French to get the basic ideas. Thanks for the link!

Ooh! The art kinda reminds me of Gorey in a way!

Winterlude sounds like a lot of fun! Some things I miss down here in the South...

Painting sounds like fun! I love painting rooms! I already know how I want to paint mine when we move!

Edward Gorey. His illustrations are more commonly know for opening the series Mystery on the public broadcasting stations. Sorry if I was vague....

That is great art! (I think you should go for the fresco.)

I don't know if I'd want angels floating on my bedroom ceiling, though .... :-)
