Little phoenix

A few people around me are having some pretty bad moments thanks to jerks trying to break their hearts, resolution or might. So it inspired me to draw a phoenix for all of them. :D

A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self.

This is just a little one.

Noticed like halfway thru the inking that it kinda looked like Antimony from Gunnerkrigg court, proving once and for all that Tom Siddell is so awesome that he’s invaded our subconscious.

Anyways, speaking of Mythology, I decided to order a pizza yesterday. Because i'm lazy and flat bread dipped in sauce is yummy. The delivery man was Indian. When reached our apartment, I opened the door to greet him and he saw immediately all the Indian Batiks around the apartment depicting various gods. Which made him really happy. I told him I wasn't of the faith, I just liked the mythology and the beauty of the Batiks. Then didn't stop him from telling me all about Vishnu and co, and his favorite stories about them. He then looked at his watch and rushed out, leaving me to savor both pizza and a mythology lesson! Yum.

She's a cute little phoenix girl. I think she would make a cute doll.

That's neat that you got to learn so much from the pizza guy. Just proves you can learn anything from just about anybody.

Awesome artwork, Isa. I like how she's still standing in the ashes of her former self. I too have always liked what the Phoenix represented. A renewal of self. Out with the old, in with the new. A starting over point.

And that must've been a cool culture lesson to have! How amazing! I have various cultures I'm interested in and to hear it from someone enmeshed in it would be absolutely fascinating!

I know! I really loved learning about the culture of friends. Because they can really tell you how daily experiences are.

Cutest phoenix ever!

I love it when total strangers brighten up the day by striking up random conversations.

Thanks!

Indeed. At least the positive ones. Hate randoms trangers with bad conversations.

Love the Phoenix drawing! I've always loved what they represent, and the idea of rising up out of the ashes of your old self.

Very neat about the delivery man!

Renewal and rebirth are always awesome themes for mythology.

Pizza delivery with a tip! Very cool that you were able to get 1st hand from an actual believer. I love reading about all types of religion and their mythology.

Sorry to hear a few of your friends are having relationship issues, but the Phoenix in their honor looks bad ass :)

They deserve ten thousand phoenixes.

This is wonderful. I really like the story of the phoenix.
I love the girl's little wings and the colour of her hair and the skull people at the bottom - which I’m guessing represent death but then her having risen above them.

Sometimes I think it would be great to be a phoenix - having such a long life span and then always getting a new chance to start over.

Pizza and mythology sound like a wonderful combination (although I’m sure there aren’t many things that go badly with pizza :) It's really cool learning about different religions.
