Good news everyone!
You guys remember that "Womantology" project i'm on, yes? Well, the kickstarter just reached 77 000$. The original goal was 25 000$.
HOLY POTATO.
And to think this all started from a random tweet and it's turning into a very beautiful, serious, successful endeavor. Not to mention, this is PROOF ON PAPER that people out there want comics written and drawn by women, about strong women, etc. There's money to be made, comic editors. People basically THREW money at this project. Because they want it. Wake up and smell the opportunity and growth. And stop killing off batgirls and turning the Avengers into a sausage festival.
Even more awesome, in the context of the Womantology, there's a contest where an artist has to design a cover for a single CD for Samantha Newark (Aka "Jem's voice" for you 80's children out there). Cd needed to include headphones, blonde hair, cheeky smiles and smexiness. Also the artist sings energetic pop. So I came up with this :

I really like it. I hope I win. Because I actually like this drawing THAT much. I'd love to see it used. As opposed to just trying, i,m shooting for the stars this time. Oohohohho.

Keep fighting the fridge, Isa!
**high five**
I hope you win that Samantha Newark contest. Your cover is really good. It's simple, but still eye-catching and gorgeous.

I haven't gotten into comics yet, but I was reading an article about a lady who dressed up as Batgirl and went to SDCC to ask questions about women in comics (both women artists and writers as well as the female characters in the comics themselves). The panelists were so rude to her. The audience was bad too. It definitely got attention.
I can't seem to find the article, but it was at dcwomenkickingassattumblr.com
It made me angry, so to see a project like this in motion and so well funded makes me happy :)

I so agree with this.
And that cover is so amazing! Good luck with the contest! For that, you get my Jem icon.

Will the Womantology project eventually start selling copies of the book to people who didn't already donate?
