Yeah, if a picture is worth a thousand words, a comic is worth a thousand multiplied by the number of panels, divided accordingly to the number of lines, in addition to the number of words calculated as a fraction with the number of bubbles.
aka comic make things clear.
Lately i've been shamefully indulging two of my greatests addictions, my boyfriend and my comic collection. First of all, i've purchased several books, including the megatokyo volumes. For those who do not know, megatokyo is an online comic found at http://www.megatokyo.com/ that is just crackalicious. It's good humour. Really. Read it if you don't already know it. The drawings aren't the greatest i've ever seen, but the story is good. it's about two hardcore gamers stuck in tokyo with no money, where L33T ninjas, rent-a-zillas, darkly cute goth girls, frilly killer girls and zombies roam. My kind of town, basicly.
Some might wonder why I purchased the books rather then just read it online for free. Well, it's fun to support the artist and I always have preffered reading things off a hard copy (I sometimes print my favorite fanfiction even)
As for my boyfriend, well, Link (as he calls himself online) is leaving soon for two years in Toronto (in 4 days to be accurate) so I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with him until then. For those who still wonder (and ask in emails) yes, Link and I ARE staying together. It's not a prank, and it's gonna be a long distance relantionship. No, I don't think we will change our minds again. It's the real deal here folks.
Secondlina happy ^_^
Work wise, as the comic shows, i've been coming in a bit on the dot. Link lives relativly far from me even know, so it's a lot of traveling to get from his house (where I usually am as of late) to my job (that is right next to my house) In any case, all this traveling is wearing me off a bit, and i'm a total klutz as work right now (I "broke" - or helped with breaking - an ice cap machine, spilled some yogourt, killed some donuts, splashed my uniform, almost cracked a coofee pot, splashed a customer, dropped sugar and made a knife do some summersaults.) People should just send me home.
Home work wise, my house is a wreck because i'm gone most of the time and my brothers do almost nothing. It's a bit sad.
Drawing wise, i'm getting back in the groove. I'm actually thinking of making a humoristic slayers compilation of all the 3 or 4 pagers I drew of slayers during all these years. I'll most likely advertise it here, and on the slayers community. If I decide to do it, it will be a sold doujin, for a modest price, with shipping. I'm still wondering if it's a good idea, but these slayers jokes are really good. Well worth the effort. I'd still need a name for it though. I was thinking of slayers replica or something.
Tomorrow I work night shift. Damn it.

I'm glad that you and Link are giving the LDR a shot. I really hope it works out for you both. I think that it will, so I've got a lot of faith in both of you.
A doujinshi would be great! I'd certainly buy one of yours.

Up to now, I have my pride, my negativity, my hormones, my sence of responsibility, my work and my love that has become fully designed characters.
They eat all the food I have in the fridge.
I'm glad Link and I are giving it a shot too. Apparently, people all around are thinking it might work. I was talking about link to a girl at work yesterday and she said "We can tell you love him a lot by the way you talk about him"
We have been going out for 3 years before this. It most likely will help.
For the doujin, what i'm thinking of putting in is the Zelgadiss stripping series (ending included. I never did post the ending online. Maybe people will buy it just for the two last comics), a few song parodies I made (which are like song fics, but drawn and freakishly funny), a few random drawings I made, some romantic pics for the fans, and some of the "Slayers in our time" jokes I made which are somewhat similar to the Zel stripping series. Not to mention all the one pagers. I might have to do two volumes to this. Not to mention I might put Poem and Home on sale, with the permission of Ichiban (because I originnaly had made those only for her.
I was also thinking of making a contest on the slayers com where people would have to either write down a 400 word scribble and / or suggest a tv show to parody and the best one would get drawn and added into the doujin. I'm thinking that would be a good idea since most of my slayers stuff was created for online.

Speaking of webcomics, I think I know another one that I think you would greatly enjoy http://www.drmcninja.com/
It's one of the funniest things you'll ever read. ^_^
The Slayers doujin sounds intriging. For some reason a title "Slayers Clone" comes to mind. @_@ I think I have a weird imagination.

That webcomic looks really interesting!

Slayers clone is a good suggestion, considering I am myself named after Lina's clone! Most excellent!

Sounds like a good doujin. I may buy it just so I can find you how the stripping series end.
If you do that contest, I will definately enter. ^_^

And more power to you for sticking to a relationship. It's difficult but a friend of mine has been 11 months while her guy has been working across the country and they're still making it work. As long as you're happy in the end despite what naysayers say, that's all that matters. It's your life after all.

I know, I love the fact that our relantionship is continuing. I feel so much less sadness. I dunno if i'll be able to pull it off, but god damn, am I willing to try, or what!

(Anonymous) 2006-07-26 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)That webcomic megatokyo seems pretty funny I'll have to follow it (the list of webcomics I follow gets larger and larger).
It seems that this comment is a bit late, but even is your boyfriend is already in his way to Toronto, you shouln't worry, long distance relationships actually works great (specially at this age of instant messengers and stuff like that).
Your slayers comics are very good (and really funny), it's good you decided to make a compilation.

Megatokyo rocks the house. I'm only getting into webcomics a lot lately (weird I know. you'd expect me to be all over them. I have a bit of trouble with internet media to be quite honest. I'm a dusty book person)
I have faith in my capacities for the relantionship. I'm also very grateful for internet, long distance plans and greyhound transamerica bus routes.
I know. I should have started working on a compilation aions ago. Gah.
