Disney has pretty girls!

Okay! I'm starting a little something I tried to do last year. It's basically a bit gift-of-sketches for the holidays to my f-list.

I'm basically going to do a little sketch for the people on my f-list as a Christmas gifts and just because you guys are so awesome. There's a few ground rules though.

1) Not everybody will get a sketch. This is mostly for my f-list. So if you aren't on it and I don't know you, you probably won't be getting one (i'm sorry! Thanks for reading anyways! I feel kinda cruel now...)

2) These are gifts, meaning that I get to choose what I want to draw. This is not an open book for requests, unless I ask you what you want directly.  I'm mostly putting this rule down because this is the reason I didn't try this last year. First person I told asked for specific drawings and got angry when I said I wanted to choose the subject. Needless to say, this person is no longer on my list. However, chances are, if i'm well-aware of what your favorite fandom is, you're getting what you want! :D

3) Some sketches will be more finished then others, some might even be colored. It doesn't mean I love some people more. It just means I felt like coloring that sketch.

So, first Christmas sketch goes to [livejournal.com profile] chameleon9999  - Some Vidia and Prilla art! Because you mentioned not finding enough! I hope you like it!

I don't draw many female duos/couples despite a large amount of friends asking me to. I wonder why? I seem pretty good at it.

I also drew the Tangled sketch I really like of Rapunzel and Flynn hanging out in the forest. I might finish it. I rather like it. I'm a little frustrated because I find these characters so hard to draw. Their designs are actually quite simple. Maybe it's looking at all the awesome Glen Keane art and the amazing fanarts that makes me frustrated. Those artists and their obvious epic superiority! *shakes fist*

In other news, I think I may need to spend on winter gear YET AGAIN. I think my body produces no heat or something. Winter kills me every year. I get sick all the time and I get massive frostbite. It snowed for the past two days and it made me realize that no matter how good my winter gear is, it's not good enough! The skin on my legs is all damaged, despite leggings, thick jeans and leg warmers. What's a girl to do? I need a coat made out of polar bears who swallowed microwaved sunlight, or SOMETHING. Or I need to move to Florida. I wonder if they have work there? Probably not. Economy is pretty horrible. But at least it would be cheap to buy a house, unlike in Montréal.

I'm starting to think about buying a condo eventually. I'm hesitating between having a house and a condo since it's pretty much impossible to have a house in the city. So I have to choose between not having a yard and driving 45 minutes every morning. Not I kinda understand why my parents were living in the suburbs (as a teen I hated all the bus rides).

Condos CAN be a bad idea if hte condo boards start acting up and force you to do certain things that you don't want to do like py for the swimming pool reno even if you don't want it.

Research first!

I hate winter too but I miss my blue boots :(

Stock up on thermal shirts! Those are always a savior. 8D

[identity profile] earthstar-moon.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, if I find any spare polar bears I'll send them your way to help you keep warm. XP

Hmm...I can see why it's a hard choice. After the wedding Stu and I are going to attempt to save up so we're able to buy a small house. I know we could get an apartment, but I figured it would be easier to save up when we don't have to pay rent at the same time (and we want a yard for future dogs.)

[identity profile] cxco.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I love your sketches! I wanna see mooooore!

Suburbs have their ups and downs, but honestly, as long as you're near a Metro station, you're fine (but then you practically have to live in Laval)

You don't like your super awesome apartment anymore?

[identity profile] rowenathewitch.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you seen the art from the daughter of Glen Keane? She worked for Tangled (and she is awesome too ^__^)

First person I told asked for specific drawings and got angry when I said I wanted to choose the subject. Needless to say, this person is no longer on my list.

Aw, that sucks. The whole point of gift art is being surprised! If that person wanted something super-specific, s/he should have just paid for a commission. :P

Your rant about the cold makes me grateful that I live in California. When I moved to Colorado for my old job, the snow nearly killed me! So I couldn't imagine living in a place like Canada!
And even though I'd love to have ya in California, I'd recommend Texas if you ever decide to move to the USA for a warmer climate (last time I checked, their economy is doing alright).

OMG OMG! I got something drawn for me? BEST DAY EVER!

THANK YOU!

Now I feel like I wanna do something back, but I don't know what. D:

Oh man, you are too sweet re: the Christmas gifts. :333

Also, how cold is it where you are? It is FREEZING in Sweden! Though I shouldn't be surprised. XD

This is in no way a reference to what we were talking about the other day, but you have two options: increase body fat, or increase clothing layers. My first few years of living in Idaho weren't too bad since I had a decent amount of body fat to keep the severe cold at bay (sans for my fingers and toes), but the winter I went back to Idaho after being in Florida...man, I was so cold! It's amazing how much of a difference a few pounds made!

Anyway, my sister has been a stick and stuck in places like Idaho since forever now. She got something called "Pepper Skins", which is just a nice name for "thermal underwear" (or long johns). The trick is to buy clothing and things that are good at keeping your body heat contained. So...don't wear cotton in wintertime!

Don't feel too inadequate compared to artists like Glen Keane. Heck, just think: He's the son of a comic artist (Family Circus...ha!), so just imagine what your kids' art ability will be like! ^_-

you're such a nice gal <3
I used to mail cards to my buddies... but... now I'm just too lazy to do so :\

Cheap to buy a house in Florida? What are prices in Montreal like? I'd go condo for you since you don't really do the pet thing you don't really need the yard... besides, all the squirrels will be less likely to invade your home then! LOL! XD

You do draw gal duos well! =D And your Tangled art is wuite adorable, not sure why you would think otherwise my sweet ;)

Woot to Christmas sketches! Smart to put down the rules like that, it'll make the choice more fun verses a task of trying to find references for characters you have no idea who they are (I tried this before, and it was quite difficult!) Good luck! Can't wait to see what you draw for everyone! :P

Love the Tangled sketch :) You should do one with Maximus since he's so awesome ;)

It's kind of funny how some of the simplest designs can be the hardest to draw. When I was younger, I had a huge problem just drawing the Powerpuff Girls.

If I could, I would send some of California's weather your way. It usually doesn't get any colder than 1 or 2 C where I live.

[identity profile] kayla marie (from livejournal.com) 2010-12-09 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I would kill for a drawing from ya. :D

And I would suggest going with the Condo, considering that you won't have pets and the drive isn't really worth it if you get a good one. Or you could find a nice place that isn't TOO far from Montreal. Bountiful here is only a 10ish minute drive from Salt Lake City.

It really is too bad that you can't have a pet. I'll probably have to give mine up before I move to Gatineau (When that time comes, of course.) SOMEONE is allergic. We think. Haha...

Now, there's a nice Christmas gift!

I hate the cold, too, despite being born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's been freaking cold in Georgia this month-in the 20s-40s. I've been layered, hatted, scarved, and booted, and meanwhile kids are running around in shorts. Then I discovered something. When I'm cold, I get all tense and hunched up. When I made a conscious effort to relax, dropped the shoulders, straightened up my posture, and didn't "fight" the cold, it wasn't as bad.

I know I want to own a house someday, I just don't know what kind of a house yet. >D

I didn't see this one :D

I really like the Rapunzel's sketch. Her hair is SO FLUFFY
