New "Unbraided" aka Disney's Rapunzel is out

As always, the animation looks great. There seems to be a strong focus on the male character. Probably to attract a male audience. I get the feeling that by creating a dashing thief, there just gonna attract more girls...

And it doesn't hurt that the dashing thief is...very dashing. Like you said. Attracting a male audience? Yeeeah... xD

But yes, it looks like fun and the animation is pretty amazing. The thief's voice actor sounds familiar too.

I wonder who plays him *goes to check*

On the other hand, if Disney wanted to pander to an older age group of men, it would focus on making the female lead more 'hot', ala Jessica Rabbit. It scares me that men still drool after her despite how many years it's been since Who Framed Roger Rabbit was released. I don't think using sex appeal to draw in the male population is the way to go, however, at least not for the Disney label.
(Anyway, I saw the trailer the other day but didn't have a chance to post it up. Even though I prefer Disney's traditional animation, I love how Disney has made it a point to insert traditional animation techniques, such as squash and stretch, to its CGI movies. It makes movies like Shrek look very stiff and boring by comparison. ...at least to me.)

I'm all for more active heroes too, but I doubt this type of hero will attract more males in the audience. I think they should go more towards characters like Hiccup, or Jim, or aladdin, as you said. This guy seems way to dashing.
I like both computer and traditional. I find both can bring out something that the other can't. Like light. Lighting is quite unique in 3D animation. However, traditional still has the more artistic edge.

Hmm, I think Disney might've just found a way into my wallet. XD

(Edit: This movie was in the works while Pixar and Disney were having a falling out, so at the time Disney was pushing CGI. It would probably destroy too much work to start all over with traditional animation.)

So Cute!

I wish they hadn't shown the hair beating scene in the trailer because it was a hilarious surprise that would have had more impact if I saw it in the actual movie. Oh well.
Changing the prince into a thief was a clever twist. That male lead is total fangirl bait!
Rapunzel comes across as very goofy. It would be cool if she was the "slapstick" character to the thief's "straight man" because you don't see a lot of female characters being wacky in these types of films (and the ones that do are always kids or old matron types).

I would like a goofier girl. I loved Charlotte in the princess and the frog. I wanted her to have a silly song! But she never did!
