Sketchies!

Before drawing a comic, you have to practice drawing the characters. To make sure you get them right and that they actually look like themselves from panel to panel. Today, I practiced drawing Warrick, everyone's favorite Wicked Warlock of the West. He's a bit of a geek with a slim body and a very expressive face. So I tried to push that. His clothing is a large black cloak with "feathers" on the shoulders. The cloak is kindoff "alive". It can protect it's wearer and also allow the wearer to fly. It's a canon Oz extended universe item and a major plot aid several times.

I think he's very cute looking. I like how his face really works with several different expressions.

Again, I seem to be more in a fanart/sketch mood then a funny comic mood. I think it's because my live is very routine-y right now. Go to work, go home, draw, chores, sleep. It's harder to find non-fandom joke ideas when the universe isn't throwing them at you. I'm going to the Sherbrooke subway station tomorrow. Maybe i'll meet the street wiseman again. Maybe he'll have advice for me once more!

Heh. I'm low on comic ideas but my character sketching is REALLY improving.

I'm a little sad. The weather was nice so all the tulips popped out. And then in snowed. I hope they survived. :(

Live purple tulips! Live!!!!!

I love seeing your sketches just as much as your funny comics! ♥ Warrick is quite cute; he doesn't seem to fit the name of "Wicked" here. XD

I love how you do facial expressions! And the character has great flow. Someday I'll have to beg your for a commission or two of some of my story characters when time and funds permits. ^_^

Looks awesome!

I think I keep forgetting to comment on it, but I'm really excited for this comic you and Megs are putting together!

I REALLY love this character! =D (As you already know from a previous comment) I have an instant fondness for him as all I see is a living incarnation of my D&D character when I look at him! I swear you pulled him out of my head, and it pleases me so! LOL! XD Now if his personality were also similar, I'd be totally floored! (If you are interested I could tell you the personality of my character, and you can tell me if they are alike at all? I played this character up to 15th level (he didn't die, the game just ended) he was a rogue/wizard... two levels rogue/ 13 wizard, so mostly wizard, and his name was Victor Enygma. So many hours put in to him developing him! I wanted to keep him organic, so he grew with the story he was played in and I only took skills/feats that felt like something he would have learned in the adventure he'd lived. I miss him so! Good times had with good friends! *nostalgic grin*) Have you ever played RPGs? ;) Anyways, I can't wait to see your Warrick in action when you get your comic up and going! I'm sure he'll be fantastic! =D

Perhaps I'm going out on a limb here but he totally reminds me of Smendrick from The Last Unicorn! I love the expressive eyes and the slightly upturned nose.

Is the cloak based on the one from The Gnome King of Oz?

Great stuff. I especially love the flying cloak sketch on page two!
