Tales of the subway

The universe works in strange, random, funny ways. In case you guys are wondering - the song is "Check, Yes, Juliet(te)" By "We the kings".

I had a christmas party this weekend. As I mentionned before, Link's parents are taking off to Florida around the 22nd. So we partied early. Link liked his gifts - a sculpture of Rodin's Thinker and a full comic book collection called "Thorgal" (It's good too!).

Tomorrow, two of my cousins and their japanese friends are visiting me in the evening. The friends are taking a flight back to Japan on Wednesday at the Montreal airport and they need a place to crash. It allows me to meet awesome people :).

In unrelated news, WTF female people? What is it with biased female fanbases? Rorchack is NOT the sexy. Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights does not dig up Catherine's body from her grave because he loves her! Sleeping beauty was indeed raped in the original version and it's not romantic! Dark Knight's joker is not a misunderstood fellow (heck even the animated version is an abusive boyfriend!!) I'm going to stop googling things and reading youtube comments forever. URGH!

Ooh, Japanese friends? If they're into anime, you can talk to them about it. :D

Whoa, what? I didn't know the original Sleeping Beauty was raped! Who the heck finds that romantic?! Not just girls, but I wouldn't be surprised if guys did, too...

Yeah, I never understood the appeal of Joker....all hundred thousand variations of the character, but they don't make him any less disturbing and abusive. DX

Watchmen movie - seven times in dealing with a rabid Rorschach fangirl. Interesting experience to say the least. Fangirls can be odd creatures. Also Joker is not misunderstood. He's a crazy bastard. Period. Absolute nut. There's a reason why in the comics whenever the super villains have a plan they leave Joker out of it. He's just a bit too unpredictable and can't be trusted. Even by the bad guys.

Joker doesn't exactly hide it, either. He has admitted to being insane and is definitely NOT misunderstood.

I feel bad for Rorschach, though. Having a prostitute for an uncaring mother is psychologically damaging enough for any child.

Joker wants to play with the rest of the kids yet at the same time the rest of the kids prefer to just leave the crazy man alone. When the other bad guys get squeamish you know you got some messed up going on.

Rorschach is an odd one. He's a mess and he's not a bad character just the fangirling is overdone on Rorschach.

Thankfully I'm not one of those fangirls. >>

I like Rorschach as a character, but I do realise he<s a deranged sociopath. Fangirls who say he's misunderstood are deranged.

Ditto.

*laughs* Oh and if you ever want to see the extent of Joker, there's a series called Justice that had a sequence in which Lex Luthor was looking in Arkham for Riddler and Joker was wanting to join in on whatever scheme Lex had in store and he just kept talking and talking. Lex more or less just said, "he's just too insane." That's also how in another storyline in the comics Joker didn't get invited to the massive Super Villain gathering in Infinite Crisis. He got his own share of "You didn't invite me to the party well screw you!" moment but it was reason why they didn't invite him in the first place.

He pretty much killed one of the people who orchestrated the whole massive event after it all fell apart. It was hilarious. XD Also that much more putting forth that Joker does not play well with others.

In Charles Perrault's version of Sleeping Beauty, she doesn't wake up until one of the twins the prince gave her starts nursing at her breast.

That's awesome! I remember as a kid I use to wonder why people just don't break into a sudden song like they did in musicals. Life would be more fun that way.

*sigh* Why do fangirls tend to drool over the not exactly mentally stable male characters? There needs to be a study on this or something.

Same here lol -- and I used to get a lot of odd stares as a little kid too because I sometimes did burst into song. ^^; What can I say? It made sense to me at the time.

I'm just going to say that it isn't just female fanbases.

The other day, i found an obsessed Yuno Gasai fanboy. A manga character whose most charitable description would be psychopathic murderous stalker. A girl who, at one point, chained up her crush so she could 'be with him forever'.

The fanboy said that if he could, he'd marry her.

Some people....

Is Link going with his parents down here? Either way, I hope they enjoy their trip! :D

I dunno why certain groups of fangirl want to "woobify" certain characters for some reason or other. That's an aspect of the fangirl mind I've yet to grasp...

ETA: Awesome song, BTW!

Curse you for linking to TVTropes!!!! *is sucked in*

Unfortunately, it seems that some women are just as attracted to creepy, abusive guys in fiction as in real life.
