Day off
Today is a national holiday in Canada. So, i,m gonna stay home, do some laundry and draw. I'm going to draw a lot. Because that's honestly what I like to do on my days off. Stay in my kimono-ish bathrobe and draw. Well, I might actually put on jeans, since laundry is outside the apartment. Unless I can convince the boyfriend to do my bidding. Hum. And maybe i'll fix up my bike too. As many of you know, biking is something I adore. I could seriously bike all day, every day. It's right up there in my favorite things with eating, sleeping and drawing.
Kung Fu Panda 2 comes out next week! I'm seriously stocked to see it. I loved the first. so there. The new "Pirates" movie is out. I kinda want to see it too, but I think I might just wait for the DVD release. I like Jack, but I'm not too sure about the quality of this sequel. It sounds like a lot of awesome scenes strung together with poor plot. Then again, it has mermaids, so it might just get me to go see it in theaters just for that. *laughs*
This was a pretty good, relaxing weekend. I felt sick for most of Saturday morning. But I got better. Friends visited to celebrate my upcoming birthday, which was nice. I also managed to score some new comics. Woo. One day, I think I might actually classify my collection with the Dewey system or something. It's so large. *laughs*
Not much to talk about, I gotta say. Basically conclude from this that I have done little work this whole weekend and mostly just relaxed like a cat spread in the sunlight of a window. Yeah.
I did finish these namesake drawings. They are for convention flyers. I wanted one to be kinda funny and the other, Dramatic. So one is two girls in a pile of books, and the other is Emma having tea with "past incarnations" of Alice, Wendy, Ozma and Dorothy. And the ghost. Hey, we'll get to see plenty of the ghost in the next cuple of pages. I can't wait. I love drawing her.

Well, that's it.

Actually, it's interesting you bring up Monkey Island. Seems there was talk of making the series into a movie (or movies?), but it fell through. But it didn't go to waste, as the main writer went on to write the PotC movies. And if that wasn't enough, fans have noticed the similarities between the two franchises. I saw this video the other day:
I usually look at reviews just to see what others are saying, not to sway me one way or another. Usually if I'm curious about a movie, I'll just go and see it (or wait for it to be on t.v. later). Again, it seems like reviewers always hate the movies I love, and love the movies I hate. It just makes me wonder what they want from a movie. So far, it seems the more violence, gore, and language in a movie, the better...
(I do think the third suffered a bit too much from EPIC SCENES OF EPICNESS THAT GO ON FOR TOO LONG. Honestly, I'm still not entirely sure what was supposed to be happening.)
Huh, well, to each his/her own. The group I went with all seemed entertained, even the friend who told me he would fall asleep during the movie. (He works early mornings, we saw a late screening.) I am interested to hear different reactions to the movie though, so you're more than welcome not to agree with me on the movie.

What reviewers are you reading!? :\

I read reviews from American newspapers, and sometimes UK reviews as well. I ought to stop. What they want and what I want are not the same thing. XP

I just believe what Roger Ebert says... I mean, I don't read him often, but he kind of knows what he's talking about, so...
Like I said, I don't really read reviews.
