Canadians do trick-or-treat, though it's been declining in popularity due to :
-Snow on Halloween (It was really cold yesterday!) -The large majority of kids getting older in a specific part of the suburb, killing the tricking and treating for that part of the suburb and moving it to another part of it. -Security locks on most apartment buildings.
I remember trick or treating and decorations being pretty epic when I was a kid, but nowadays, the place where my parents live is dead on Halloween (no pun intended). One of my friends lives in a newer suburb and she says it's pretty booming though. I guess the festivities just move where the youth is. Though, Halloween in the big city seems pretty boring! No big spooky parties or anything.
I do think halloween may be a more American thing, but it exists here. And I still love it. Might be more kid-oriented. As a child I always wondered where those big halloween parties on Buffy or Hocus Pocus were hosted around here.
