And you bring up a good point, then again they never mention in detail how much Gideon messes with Scott's head. Actually now that I think about it the comics leave a few things unexplained, the subspace highway, the glow, etc. But then again the story really isn't about that stuff so it doesn't bother me that they don't go into detail about it.
