Bleh.

 Feeling sick-ish again.

I don't know why I'm always so sick when I start my period. The craps are horrifyingly bad and I just feel like vomiting all day. It was going better for a while but now it's bad again. *sigh* I'm hoping this miracle medication they gave me before will work again. At least I got to sleep last night. Usually when I sleep a little the pain fades a bit. So I feel a bit better today then yesterday morning. Still wish I wasn't going in to work though.

At least the weekend is here! Yaaaaay.

This weekend, my friend Fauve is visiting. There's a con in Montreal (Otakuthon) and it's also my friend's Sofi's birthday. So I won't be drawing much this weekend. But it's okay. dqbunny is still tweaking out the dialogue for the first chapter of Namesake, so I can take a drawing break. I managed to finish drawing the prologue! Yaaaay! :D IT'S ADVANCING YOU GUYYYYYS!

I'll leave you guys with these following fairy tale pictures. They aren't drawn by me. They are from a really old fairy tale book my mom found at work (she's the library technician at the Eduction Ressource Center of the Ottawa University). They have really amazing fairy tale books! And most of these are going to go into storage pretty soon. So sad...

This Beauty had EVIL SISTERS! It's the original version of the tale, and she totally did. Check out these b*tches.

*Gasp* She's reading! Oh noes!

OH NO TWO WOLVES! (There's actually more on the second page where the text is).

Beast, I love your castle.

Who needs a pocket version of the magic mirror?

I didn't get many scans of the beast. Here, beast dying.

And then he upgrades to...Swan-man?

Ypu need to suspend reality to be able to love fairy tales. That, or to be able to appreciate them as metaphors XD

Beast definitely invested in his home decor.

The kinda reminds me of mononoke too! Shiny...

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Urgh. Lucky!

I knoooow! The university is insane. The gutted all the library to add more tables ans to make a room people could rent. What about the books students need you ask? They got online books instead. You can still get stuff from storage, but it take 2 weeks. It's just... horrible. My mother and my friend who also work there have been headdeskbanging for months.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
9 pages less? The book has like... 20.... Bleh.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I love her hair. I just want to play with it... *purrs*

Bauer and Nielsen *faints* THEY ARE MY GODDDDSSSSSS! I love their work. I tried to inspire myself from it a lot. I'm still looking for a decent art book of their work.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of people have! I love it.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to do it!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I usually spend my period moaning, depressed and half-asleep all the time. I got from sleeping 7-8 hours per night to about 10, plus evening naps.

Heh. It sucks, but it's always been that way. At least you guys know to expect me to be in zombie mode a week out of each month. XD

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on your point of view. 5 days in a row can suck, but when you work only 3-4, you rarely get two days off in a row, which also sucks, you can't go anywhere! I worked all sorts of different shifts, and I have yet to decide which type I prefer. I do prefer solid, stable hours though.

I think we're ll just sad you have to put up with it ;.;. I know I am.

Just spend the week relaxing and curling up in a ball with stuff you love. Nobody will expect anything less <3

I should clear off the scanner and scan in some of the images from my mom's copy of Andersen's Fairy Tales that I inherited from Mom. Those were gorgeous images.

I've actually been fairly lucky with my periods, though the symptoms change month to month. Usually I get cravings for greasy food or soda. Sometimes I do have cramps and usually I just try to sleep them out. Mike got to witness his first period with me in July and poor baby, I don't think it was fun for him.

Yessss!! DITTO :( <33 Princess Tuvstarr is my favorite. I would die for a print. :( Especially a nice big one to put over my desk *SIIIIGH* hahaha.

Do you ever eat ginger root? Some reading up on it lead me to women who suffer from nausea taking it during their period (either in pill form or making it into an herbal tea) to ease symptoms. I hate the stuff myself, but it has been used as a natural remedy for things for a long time now.

I have to say, I have read Beauty and the Beast, but never one so beautifully illustrated! It is a shame that book is going in to storage, but I guess it's better than being thrown out...somehow. Regardless, I did always like the story, except how wishy washy Beauty was as a character. So sad she stays away from Beast because her sisters convince her to! I actually read an adaptation of it in school (a friend loaned it to me) that was just called 'Beauty', I think... It did a great job really expanding on the story, but the ending was so rushed it ruined the book for me. Regardless, evil sisters are evil, but somehow turning them into stone statues will help them learn not to be evil? Yay, story logic!

Aw, sorry to hear you're feeling crappy from your period. I wish I had a fix for it that I could pass on! XP

gorgeous!!
thanks for sharing :D

They're so beautiful, thanks for sharing! Also, yes, totally Art nouveau, but more than Mucha it reminds me of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubrey_Beardsley. His Peacock Skirt illustration is beauitful.

Beauty=GORGEOUS!
Prince=Once again, I am disappointed. :

You have no idea how jealous I am about the Beauty and the Beast book right now. *_* akkljhfshsadhdgasas!!

I ADORE the art nouveau look to the design and there's something very chic about the evil sisters' dresses. Though Beast turning out to be a Swan Prince (is that you Mytho?) is kind of weird.

I'm honestly surprised that nobody has mentioned anything about birth control yet. Haha.

I've been taking birth control off and on for the last year or so for regularity + acne problems. When I'm not taking it, the first day is usually rolled up in a ball crying with a heating pad, but while I'm on it, I can honestly say that I've noticed a difference in cramps and *ahem* other... problems... Are you on it? Or maybe have you tried it?

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! *is curled*

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, i'd love to see those! Please do!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ginger root worked for a while, but it doesn't anymore. :( I have a few calming teas that help too.

Meh. If they were throwing it out, my mother would have taken it. So I don't know. It's a real shame.

Fairy tales often have incredibly difficult tasks or severe punishment. I'm not sure why. Maybe that should be my next research subject XD

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'd take it.

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Glad you found it inspiring!

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha! Beardsley! Another one of my favorites! I actually did a school project long ago where we had to copy an artist's style and I picked him. And made fairy tale pictures. Check it out :
