Well, I've finally just got it into me to give the proper series a try, so I will stick with it. Mike and I saw the new Karate Kid last week and there was a long promo for Last Airbender, but it just doesn't look interesting to me. It looks rather overblown. Your description makes the series sinus more appearing.
